Totted Up!

Puddycat, 27 May, 2012 at 15:44 Posted on Planning 0 5

Ooops just totted up our total spend! AND we have tried our very best to keep costs low. I am so glad that we have cut some things out and trying to keep numbers low. I just pray I haven't over looked a major spend! ?

    What items have you costed?

At least you are totting it up though, even if it's more than you thought it would be it's better to know now than when it's too late!

I am one that has to know how much we are spending so seeing the running total is a suprise, from the orginal budget we are over but have had some unexpected help so went for some bits that we weren't going to have so I am happy, if we take out the extras and the unexpected help we should come out about what I thought.

We have costed everything I think / hope! Obviously it is not exact due to numbers but it is approx. So venue & food, transport, entertainment, flowers, suits, dress, church, photographer, rings, insurance, shoes, make-up, invites & stationary, cake, umbrella's.......... Have I forgotten anything major? ?

It is a bit more than we were expecting but we are trying to pay as much as possible as we go so that we do not start married life heavily in debt like many of our friends have. We are doing things like trying to keep the weekly shop as low as possible ie no convenience food etc, we don't go out very often you know the score. I will say however we have not factored in a honeymoon as we are hoping that if people do want to gift us something, travel vouchers or money towards a honeymoon would be gratefully received.

Bridesmaids? DJ? Jewellery? Favours? Have you factored stamps insto your stationary? And table plan/thank you cards? Hair?

You may have included these under other categories - just trying to help!

It's definatley a good idea to review your day to day spending, there are usually cuts can be made, drop a brand level at the supermarket, stop buying coffee whilst out, walk instead of drive etc. Getting into debt for 1 day is not a great way to start a marriage IMO.

    Nutella, I couldn't agree more.

We have friends that have taken out £20k loans ?

Not having bridesmaids or ushers, jewellery i am going to borrow from my Mum and it was my Granny's. We are not doing favours. Stamps I hadn't thought of so I shall buy half a dozen a week, I won't notice them that way. Thank you for that one. Table & thank you's are in stationary. Hair is free as my friend i doing it and we have a complimentary room which we have given her (she doesn't know it's complementary, naughty I know but hey you have to be savvy about these things ? )

This is a list of everything that appeared in my wedding budget

No honeymoon costs as were asking for money toward that as gifts, and no transport costs as its all on one site.

    Might be useful to people?
