transport ideas

GregorsGirl60, 28 November, 2012 at 20:35 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello ladies,

ive been talking to the OH and we are both a little stumped about what to do for transport for me, my dad and the BMs (3 + flowergirl). We are not changing venue and no one will see us arrive so i dont want to spend much. However the issue is the traffic. We were thinking of hiring one inexpensive car and doing two trips. on a good.day this would be no problem, as we only live 10 mins from the venue. However its the city centre and sometimes this same journey can take 30 mins. To allow for that my BMs would have to leave an hour before me and 1.5 hours before the ceremony. As it potentially could take 10 mins, this seems crazy. But i really really dont want to fork out on two cars and I am not keen on campervans or buses. The OH suggested a limo but we both think thats a bit naff. I have run out of ideas so I thought Id pick your brains.

Thanks in advance!

What about one of the old fashion limos that take 7 people?

As no one is going to see you in the car, and you don't need to go anywhere, I would just get three executive cabs.

Have a look here https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/347848.aspx on some views of cabs.

A local taxi firm is valeting and ribboning one of its people carriers for my mum and bridesmaids (6 people in total) for £60 and then I have hired an executive taxi (BMW 7) for dad and I that is costing £120 with ribbons and chauffer, as my mum insisted I had a wedding car for me. I was in the same situation except my venue is between 30 and 45 mins away traffic dependent. Some quotes were coming back as much as £850 for getting all 8 of us there!

Edit to add the taxi firm would have done and Aldi or merc for £60 to but it would have had the taxi stickers on the side and my mum said she would rather pay for me to have a proper car ( think it was for my dad really hehe).

Thanks everyone - i know this is probably a really stupid question, but how do you find an executive taxi? Do you just ring a normal cab firm? Or are there special companies? And how far in advance can you book?

    Thanks!
