Transport to the Venue

Evaray, 12 May, 2009 at 14:57 Posted on Planning 0 6

I am a bit undecided about what transport to use on my big day (hence why I have joined to see if anyone could give a few ideas). I am not into these old fashioned Rolls Royce type that you see at most Weddings but I also don't want a mordern car either.

I have thought of a Horse drawn carriage but think if it rains it won't be so good. I would like something quite different and a bit funky & fun.

I need a vehicle that would carry me and 5 Bridesmaids to the Church so it would have to be quite big.

I live in Wales and could do with a few suggestions or recommendations

Not sure what companies are in Wales but how about having something like a fire engine or vintage bus? If you have a theme you should be able to get some transport to match it ?

Do the Firemen come with the Fire Engine - asked one of the Bridesmaids!!! I think my hubby to be would be a bit stunned if we turned up in that as we don't have any fire service connections. A vintage bus could be good though. I can't find anyone in the area who provides one though.

I could always just get a Black Cab to the Church which would be really laid back (now I am getting stupid!!).

I will keep searching and see what Classic buses come up as that could be a nice touch and also transport some of the guests after the ceremony as my fiance has hired a Classic VW Cabriolet sports car for him and the Groom and the journey back for us.

We are thinking about having a cabriolet beetle and camper van from beetledriveuk.com - I don't know if they supply your area but they have a list of other suppliers on there too.

I really wanted a horse drawn carriage but it is quite expensive and I'm allergic to horses - don't really want to end up scratching and sneezing at the alter! All the ones I've looked at do have roofs which can be put up in 1 - 2 minutes if it does start raining though, so don't let that put you off.

Don't forget the car could always take 2 journeys to drop off you bridesmaids and yourself and whoever's giving you away etc. if you can't find one big enough to take you all in one go.

I thought along the black cab line too - I quite like that idea! I read once of a woman who travelled to her wedding on the bus, in all her finery! Not so keen on that idea!

Our friends had a VW Splitscreen at her Wedding in Bath last week. It was stunning..we are hoping to have them at our Wedding next year. The Company was based in Wales and are called Lovedub Weddings.

Their Website has a few piccies of my mates, her Husband is in the one in the kilt. The Camper was the talk of the Wedding. Everybody was in & out of it having photos taken!!! The photographer loved it as the front Windows opened and the Bride & Groom had loads of photos up front as if they were driving.

Check out their Website at www.lovedubweddings.co.uk .

looking forward to our Wedding in June 2010 and really hoping the sun shines so we can have the Cabriolet they offer too like your fiance is considering.

WOW!!! That looks like a fab vehicle to arrive in and they can accomodate 6 passengers!!! I am sure that the car they offer is the one my hubby has booked aswell!!

Typical man only thinking of himself the amount of times I have stressed about getting a vehicle to fit in 6 people and he didn't click!! The pictures on their Gallery look amazing and the vehicles look stunning and well looked after.

I will kill him when he gets home!!! I also noticed that they are Environmentally concious with their tree-planting gift which is so cool. Lets hope they are avaialble for our Day

    Fingers crossed xxx
