Trap music? Am I ancient?

*Mini*, 6 January, 2014 at 21:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 31

I would like to think I'm down with the kids but hubs and I were intrigued by a new album of 'trap' music.

googling reveals it sounds like dubstep and grime mixed in with the noise of a photocopier when doing a3 prints.

https://youtu.be/GpfY22DsiRk

one of the comments on it was also that it was 'ham'. I *think* that's an endorsement.

Am I old? Or just ridiculously uncool?

I've heard of "von Trapp" music... #the hills are alive...#

Mrs Imp - Trap Door was a fabulous programme. We used to make chocolate cakes shaped like Berk and any bubbles from the filters in aswimming pool were knowns as "Rogs". (This will make no sense to anyone who hasn't seen it. I am aware it looks like utter gibberish)

No idea. Horrible music. Googling 'ham', all I could come up with is 'hard as a motherf*cker'

Definitely not down with the kids, me...

Living with a 21 year old (who isn't even that cool) has made me realise that I too am an old lady, totally not "dahn wiv da kidz". Never heard of Trap Music. Never heard "ham" used in any other way that the meat way and the HAM Radio my Dad had in the 80's.

I have heard of Trap music, which for a 32 year old I am pretty impressed with. I dont like it though, which probably makes me very uncool.

I probably have heard it but not known it was called Trap!

I love garage, grime etc I'm a real garage girl haha - I do like a bit of dubstep now and then and at Electric Daisy last year I was in the Shy FX tent swinging my top around my head to Chopper. Love it.

Never heard of Ham as anything other than a tasty sandwich filling though.

    Trap music - no.

    Trap Door - yes.

Sounds more like claptrap to me.

I used to be down with the kids - I love(d) a bit of French Electro House and House in general.

The inly kids I'm down with are my own. Ask me about Fireman Sam, Thomas or any of the nonsense from Night Garden and I can totally fill you in.

I've found a Trap playlist on spotify. After a minuite my ears were bleeding (exageration slightly)

Who has accesses to a teenager that they can ask about "ham"? My niece is 17 but also on the other side of the world so London street may not be top of her list. She does finish every Facebook status with #awks though. That being said so do I quite often.

One of my colleagues in the office once showed me what 'trap' music was. It's literally just noise. Not even that, I would prefer to listen to noise. I hate dubstep anyways, but this takes it to a new level unfortunately Smiley sad

Not that I would ever actually use the phrase, but I know about HAM from listening to hip hop - it means 'hard as (a) motherf*cker

Like if you get really angry at someone, you would be going HAM on them

Or on a more positive note, if a rapper did a really great verse then they would have gone HAM on it
