Travelling with my wedding dress!!

jen_jj, 2 April, 2013 at 21:42 Posted on Planning 0 1

I need advice ladies! I'm going to collect my wedding dress in a couple of weeks. I live in Essex but my dress is in Lancashire (near my mum's). I found my dress a lot cheaper in the dress shop up North... hence the distance!

I had planned to drive up and collect my dress but my other half has to use the car for work and can't lend it me. I am now resorting to travelling on the train / possibly even the bus.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to pack a dress into a suitcase? I am going to use a hard sided case for extra protection. Should I roll it up or fold it??

Just for a train or bus, don't bother. The shop should put it in a cover, and you can then hang it up on the train or bus. I had mine packed in a box for a flight, but wouldn't have bothered for train/bus.

Hi Smiley smile I had a similar situation... Ask the shop who they use as a courier. They may help.

if not, look on ebay for a dress carrier that has a shoulder strap . Put this number into ebay **** it's sold as I bought it ! Lol but go onto sellers other items Abd they have loads, it's what I'm using to get my dress down to London, I'm only 5'4 and its fine for me .

    good luck x
