Treats for my sweets *TTC*

SillyWrong, 10 April, 2015 at 11:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

So relatively soon, my wife is going to have to inject herself daily for a month, not only will she have to do this, but the injections will force her in to menopause for the first two weeks and then for the following two weeks, will over stimulate and cause a surge in hormones. She suffers terrible side effects from hormones (she cried yesterday because we couldn't find a picnic table to eat at in our local park!) and is not likely to have a very good time of it. Besides the hormones, there are also physical effects of the injections, bloating, soreness, cramping. She's doing all this so that she can put a wee baby in my tummy (Ugh, I'm getting all emotional now!!)

Loves her, I do!

Anyway ... I have decided as a way to help her through it, I'm going to get her a little gift for every day, and wrap them all up and number them, a bit like an advent calendar - for her to open each day following her injection. In some i'll just put little treats like a ferrero rocher, I've seen a cute little fertility bracelet on etsy, I've bought some 'lucky' orange socks (orange is the feng shui colour of fertility) for her to wear on egg collection and me to wear at embryo transfer (you're not allowed to wear much else in the room!) I'm going to get her a couple of massages to have weekly while she's on the injections and I thought about putting in a little voucher for a nice dinner out one night, I thought maybe a cute little letter or two for a few of them .... can you guys think of anything else? I want to come up with some original ideas of things to surprise her with ... I need 28 (cheap!) ideas!

Flowers, bath stuff, little cards with a sweet message, a book or film or magazine she wants, vouchers for things she can redeem of you e.g. Washing up, food shopping, her choice of tv etc.

Im sure she will love it and it'll make all the difference during the month.

What about one of those hot chocolate on a stick lolly things? Do you know what I mean? You dunk it in hot milk - oh my gosh they're divine!

Maybe do a quick google search of fertility symbols - I just did and little things came up like pomegranates, the moon, cats - maybe you could get like little teddy bears or statue things. Totally depending on how much you want to fill up your house Smiley tongue

I have this on the list with a question mark next to it. It feels like jinxing, it also feels like a really positive thing to do to show confidence in us/the process. Perhaps this will be the last present in the advent!

Ah, this somehow makes me sad for my failed attempt at egg donation. I was preparing for all this and then they didn't want my eggs. STUPID GENETICS.

SW, you just made me all teary. You two are very lucky to have each other Smiley smile

I don't have much to add that hasn't already been suggested - I was going to suggest hair bits and cute little earrings from Accessorize - I was in the other day and there's a fair amount of orange themed things. Or a voucher for lunch/coffee (can she drink coffee?) for somewhere near her work, so she can treat herself if its a bad day? Also, have you been to Oklahoma in town? they have super cute little house/ jewellry things.

Too much excitement! The hormones are pretty awful, but it's such a short period of time and also feels all a bit magical, too. Super excited for you both.

    Starbucks card?

    Nail varnish?

daft photo of you both together?

Some lovely ideas here! Seeing as you're cutting down the booze, how about some nice mocktail recipes and ingredients?

Oh gods you are so lovely. I will have everything crossed for you both.

Does she do any writing? Maybe a diary to give her on day one to write down her feelings through it all? Is that we'll cheesy?

SW - you're such a cutie! I can only add - making her favourite cocktail, baking her fave cake or similar.
