Trends

*Mini*, 21 April, 2012 at 17:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 34

Inspired by HatTricks post flashing a lovely inflatable chair. Made me think of random trends from our yoof.

I was fully on-board with the inflatable furniture trend. My bedroom at home circa 1998 was full to the brim with inflatable armchatirs, picture frames, washing bins and flowers.

Nit to mention my inflatable backpack for school.

What trends were around when you were young? Points will be awarded for photo evidence.

Had all of the above. My inflatable of choice was a blue chair to go in my yellow, blue and green bedroom complete with flowery border *barf*

Blue and yellow bedrooms were the standard choice for a trendy teenage girl in the late 1990's. I have a flash of mine....

I had the yellow and green bedroom. Border too, I dont have photos here but I'm sure there will be some in my Mums. Sofa beds were also cool, and cabin beds, my bedroom was tiny and only for one person, I had a cabin bed, with wardrobe and desk underneath, a wardrobe and a sofa bed which pulled out into a double bed. There was literally no floorspace. Why???

Scrunchies! The really cool girls wore a few at the same time...

I hope these never come back into fashion.

This is what every girl in my school smelled of in their early teens, there was a cheap rip-off version you could buy in internacionale but I can't remember what it was called

I remember being desperate for one of these and my mum finally saving up for one from Argos!

Loads had to be worn with a scraped back pony tail, loads of scrunchies, big hoop earrings and you had to have your fringe gelled into weird spikes down your forehead. Can't find any pics of that look thank god! Can you tell we were pretty broke and I went to an extremelly chavvy school?

I have a photo of me and my friends from 1997, I'm wearing Kappa poppers, a Sweater shop jumper and "spice girls" white platforms. My friends are wearing Adidas poppers, Kickers jumper, Kickers shoes, Reebok jumper and another Sweater Shop jumper. Just to add to that, we're all doing our best Spice girls kicks. Oh and one of my friend's hair has the blonde streaks just at the very front.
