Tried on my first dresses today :S

Mrs*W*2B, 25 March, 2012 at 16:46 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello!!

Wasn't planning on trying on dresses until jan 2013 but a friend of ours works in a 'mother of the bride' occasion wear shop and was having a sale along with a wedding dress shop and some of their samples so we decided to go and have a quick look as it was local! saw some lovely dresses and the woman kept saying 'if you want to try any on you can' so i decided to go for it!

i tried on a bigger dress first and my god i did not realise how hard to walk in they would be and it got me worrying about how hot i would get in it!! it wasn't the type you could put a hoop in either! how do people cope in hot weather?!?! so i tried on a slimmer fitting one and again wondered how the heck people walk gracefully in it! (was a fishtail!) i also found that i was trying on and only just fitting in a size 14 (im usually a size 12!) did others find the sizes to be small??

now im thinking i need to lose weight (was planning on anyway) and then get dress shopping ASAP as i think im going to be a fussy one!! I didn't even feel a buzz trying them on really just felt like i looked a bit silly which is weird because im usually v.girly! I don't know if it was because it was a sample sale and the 'changing rooms' were litrally a screen with a couple of brides changing behind it! but i just thought i would feel amazing and i didn't Smiley atonished

Also my mum pretty much gave no reaction whatsoever except for 'and what size is that one' 'a 14? oh well diet starts monday then haha' we have this kind of relationship so i wasn't offended and i didn't expect her to be gushing over them if she didn't like them but now im thinking will she even make lovely comments if it's the one?...she did say that 'well you know if i tell you it looks nice it really does...i don't just say it for the hell of it' so i suppose thats a good honest opinion!!

Another thing is after i tried them on i wanted to tell H2B all about them and i think i will find it sooooo difficult when i actually buy one not to tell him any details! did anyone give their H2Bs any clues at all??

oh well hoping i will get a tingly feeling when i try on 'the one' just hoping that it doesn't take me as long as it has taken to find a venue!!

Smiley tongue x

From what I've heard (I've not started dress shopping yet, so don't know), wedding dress sizes are not proportionate to high street sizes

Wedding dress shopping didn't excite me either. I got mine off ebay.

My H bought my first dress for me, but I changed my mind and bought the one off ebay, then showed him when it came.

I knew what he was wearing, so only fair he got to see me in my frock. Plus, I don't go in for the whole "it's bad luck" thing.

And wedding dresses do come smaller, so don't worry about that.

When you bought one off ebay did you buy one second hand or get one made from a seller?

I wouldn't worry about the sizes, I'm normally a 10-12 and I tried on a 12 which was too small. When you try on "the one" you'll definitely know!
