We've got some friends in Brighton who run a fabulous B&B with excellent customer service, but they have had real problems with rival B&B's posting defamatory remarks on trip advisor about their B&B. In cases like this I think identifying the purpetrators is a good thing.

I think this is good in certain ways, but I'd hate for it to further impede honest criticisms of a business.

If people are willing to voice their opinions about someone else (personal or professional) then they should be accountable if it false and not do it hiding behind a username/profile.

I think it's a good thing. It isn't saying that companies will be able to get the identities of all users that post, and to be honest I doubt it would be a quick process to find out peoples identities, so companies wouldn't want to spend money and hours unless deemed worth it.
