Trying to lose weight..... Arghhhhhh

Bird 1, 18 October, 2010 at 09:39 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hi Ladies,

I've just weighed myself this morning and I'm the heaviest I've ever been (except when I was pregnant). You're supposed to try and look your best for your wedding and I cant stop stuffing cakes and crisps down my grid!!!!!! What's wrong with me????? I only need to lose a stone but it seems impossible..... All I wanna do is eat everything in sight, I've got my hen do next month and I need a new dress and I cant find anything that I like cause I look like a heffer!!!!!

Anyone else having the same trouble as me, I'm thinking I may have developed that prada willis syndrome!!!!

Thanks for reading,

Bird x

I know exactly what you mean, I blame the stress! Someone said to me last week (a guy, surprisingly) to : "find a dress that fits you, don't try to fit the dress" I thought that was great advice, and thats exactly what I've done - I refuse to stress and diet and almost kill myself to be skinny for my big day, I am who I am, and he loves me.

I've been having the same problem right up until last week when something just clicked and now I'm automatically choosing food that's less bad for me than my usual snacksome stuff. Might be because I've started a new job and I'm on my feet all day, which is really good exercise because I'm running round all over the place and also have a combined total of 5 miles to walk each day there and home again.

Forget about the food side of things and focus on finding a way of exercising that you enjoy and burns fat. Swimming is excellent for that. Once you get into exercising regularly - especially if you do it in the mornings - you'll find that fattening food no longer appeals because it would ruin all the hard work you're doing with the exercise.

That and buy a 50s swing dress for your hen party. They flatter EVERYONE. Vivienne of Holloway has some stunning ones or there's a load of shops on eBay that sell them.

Me too, having had a baby 10 months ago I now eat chocolate, something I never ate much of before. I zumba 3 times a week but I still stuff my face. I need to lose weight and I am determined to get focused.

You have to be ruthless im afraid its the only way. If you dont buy the chocolate or crisps in the first place you cant eat them - well thats what i do. Although saying that i tend to eat more when im stressed, why cant i lose my appetite :-(

I've given myself a good talking too and I'm gonna go for it and try to be good! I know h2b loves me no matter what shape I am, but at the minute I'm not happy with me! I want to feel amazing on my wedding day not annoyed cause I couldn't stop stuffing my face! I've had bran flakes this morning and they are not as bad as I thought they were so that's progress! Think I'm gonna take my little girl for a walk in the pram and go to the supermarket and get some healthy things in for lunch/tea. It's only 3 months away so if I aim to lose a pound a week I'll be fine and I think a pound is do-able!

    I'm on a mission....... Thanks ladies x

I was saying this the other day on another weightloss thread. We should start a food diary over on the weightloss section. Put down everything we eat each day then we can tell each other off if we are naughty, or congratulate on good days. Help each other.

I'm really worried as I'm laid up with a buggered knee. I find out this afternoon if I need surgery or not. Ive gone from running practically everyday whilst training for my marathon, to killing my knee during the marathon and now being unable to do anything! Worried all the wobble I lost during training will wobble its way back! I was finally starting to look in the mirror and not be disgusted! Doh!

Anyway, I'll start the thread if people think its a good idea!!

You're not alone - it's known as wedding dress syndrome in this house!?

I was doing really well before I went and blew an obscene amount of money on a dress - then I started stuffing my face with all manner of crap that I have never even entertained in my life before! I keep promising myslef that I'll be good, and that I'll start excercising again...... and then I spend all day sat on my fat arse eating crap!

I really am going to HAVE to do something or there is no way that I'm going to get into this dress. Despite my protests they ordered it in a 10 as "well, our dress fits you and that's a 10" and " besides, that's a street size 12". Yes, that may be, but I'm a 14!!!! I'm sure a psychologist would come up with some junk about me using the dress I don't think will fit me anyway as an excuse to eat - personally I just think I'm being a bone idle greedy cow!?

?Perhaps we should have some sort of dress size challenge a la OT????

Once i got my frock i weighed myself as soon as i got home so at least i know how much i weighed the day i tried it on. I am almost half a stone heavier and ideally wanted to be half a stone lighter than i was when i tried it on so it fits perfectly so now im on a mission to shift a stone and tone up! the challenge is most definitely on

I've definitely put on weight since she took the measurements for my dress. Still, plenty of exercise and cutting down on the wine ought to do it.

Losing a stone in the time you have left is doable. Cut down on any processed food and carbs and up your activity - you'll be fine, good luck!

I downloaded this from ebay and lost 4lbs in my first week.

The diet is brilliant as you can eat so much and lose weight.

Ugh... I'm the same - my weight seems to be creeping up by about a 1lb a day!! ? I need SERIOUS help!! I think a thread on OT would be a great idea -

Last year I stuck to less than 1,500 calories per day and I lost a stone in about 4 months - I got really into it, but recently I've dropped off and it's all to easy to keep opening my desk drawer and eating the huge pack of chocolate eclairs I've got in there, along with my maom chews and my fruitella's!! (and I wonder why I'm piling it on!!! lol)

If you are unhappy, you need to change it - that's where I'm at now... LET'S BEGIN!!!....... I'll just finish this packet of fruitella first!!! ?

Rebecca2286 I think that's a great idea! Just point me in the right direction cause the wedding planning bit is the only bit I go on! i've been good since my last post. Soup and some pineapple. It could all go wrong later as I'm working at 4pm till midnight and the girls I'm on with always have chips!!!!!

BE STRONG, STEP AWAY FROM THE CHIPS......

Top tip for dieting - porridge!

Try those "instant ready to go just add milk nuke it" ones - Pawridge or Oatso Simple - about 200 calories if you make it with skimmed milk. Fills you up till lunch time so you're less tempted to snack.

And of course you have to stop buying the naughty snacks - if they're not there you can't eat them.

Try cutting out the booze (if you drink?) Always gets rid of a few pounds! I now don't drink at all in the week, just a bit at weekends.

And try not to buy snacks so they're not there to eat! x

Well girls I'm ashamed to say the being good didn't last long! Took a healthy chicken salad sandwich to work and ate that and was feeling very smug with myself then one of the girls went to the chippy and brought me some chips back!!!!!! Obviously I ate them cause it would have been rude not to! Ahhhh well today's another day and I'm on the bran flakes again!

Vickster is right Im afraid being ruthless is the only way! But if you are ruthless you can still lose what you want. I have struggled to lose weight for years but finally found a plan that works for me and lost 2st 2lbs in just over 2 months and that was with a couple of weekends off in the middle where I completely blew the diet out of the window lol! But aside from that I have stuck to it rigidly and hopefully get another stone off by the time my final dress measurements need to be in at end of November

I would also be op for an O/T thread keep me motivated lol x

I have gained 5lb instead of losing 5lb whoops....

Try to collect some information about exercise, there are a lot of things that you can do at home. Extensive research has been done on exercise and plenty of this information is easily available. You can try browsing the net or getting a book or two on how to exercise at home. This information will be useful to you to know how much you need to work out on each specific exercise in order to burn off the desired number of calories.
