Tumble Dryers

Chicken, 10 April, 2009 at 12:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

What do you dry in yours?

I rarely use mine - towels maybe twice a year if it's raining and the clothes horses are full. Can you put pants in? And t-shirts?

Dull as feck.

Absolutely everything. Especially pants & socks - which are nasty and crispy air dried. Unless it says not to on the label, it goes in.

In the winter everything that doesn't have a 'do not tumble dry' label goes in it. During the summer only the towels and underwear go in it.

Everything. I can't abide crispy towels, and I can't be having clothes horses full of four people's washing (and two of them are 6 and under) around the place. We get trough a lot of clothes, towels and bedding.

So it won't shrink t-shirts and, say, cotten tops etc? Interesting ..

Since moving into a rented place, we have a washer / drier, after having lived without a drier for around 8 years. There's very little we can actually put in it, without the bloody thing shrinking stuff. I made the mistake of putting some new pants with a logo in, and they melted ?

Cotton underwear, towels, t shirts and vest tops. I always tumble dry underwear, I hate having it hanging about the place.

Most things, except woollens and denims. Tumble dried jeans are yuck. Like JK I have 2 young children and we go through sooooo much stuff, and the other big advantage is if I tumble dry the children's clothes, they need no or very little ironing.

We dry most things in it.. I have an 18 month and an 8 week old, so we get through a heap of stuff daily and just have no room for airers really. The only things I don't put in are wool items and anything that I know has a "do not tumble dry" label from memory. Although I do have stuff on the line today which is nice.

I find t-shirts can shrink if left in too long or on too high a temperature. I take stuff out when it's barely dry as I am old-fashioned and still choose to iron stuff and it's easier when it's not bone dry.

Unless it says not to I stick virtually all my washing in the tumble dryer as otherwise i'd have damp washing hanging around the house permenantly. I've got a few shirts and my jeans which I don't put in but otherwise into the dryer it goes.

It should probably cost me a fortune in electricity but both washing machine and tumble dryer are AAA rated and we got a letter from the electricity company the other day to tell us they are reducing our monthly direct debit by £20 as we're not using as much electricity as we used to in our old house!

Just towels, its too expenisve to run daily.

I quite fancy one of those Dri-Buddi thingys, apparently they are cheaper to run and you can dry anything in it, delicates etc.

    Has anyone got a Dri-Buddi?

Pretty much everything goes in ours. It has a high temp setting and a low temp setting so if in doubt about it shrinking things, I will use the low temp setting.
