turquoise scheme: how to find ribbons, balloons, umbrellas? / make-up problem

yes2011, 1 June, 2011 at 17:11 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi all,

I hope all your wedding planning is going well, and good luck to those that are close to the date!

I have some questions that I can't bother my OH with:

We're having turquoise as a color scheme and I thought it would be nice to have some matching balloons and umbrellas (in case of rain/burning sunshine). Also, I need some turquoise ribbons that works for the cake and as ribbons for lots of other little things.

I googled around, but I'm not sure if there's a good source online where I can get all these things for reasonable prices?

-

Another recent problem: How do I judge if the make-up/hairdo "person" is right for me. I hardly ever wear make-up, and I only 2x/year go to get a haircut. What were your criteria for choosing a salon?

Big thank you!!

Anja

I'm using ebay for buying a couple of pashmina's/umbrella's in my wedding colours (blue & orange) and found quite a few, so I'll be buying a couple of each and putting them in a small basket with some sort of sign saying take me but return me.

I'm not sure about ribbon - but I'd say ebay again!

As for hairdressers/make up people I would ask people you know, look online for reviews, ask to see examples of their work etc....or at least thats my plan!

We're using turquiose and navy and I've got our bits from everywhere. My ribbon is mostly from this ebay seller http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290531303296&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I would reccomend ebay for everything!

We bought pashminas from a market in birmingham 3 for £5 and they're really nice actually!! x

Well, firstly i must say - great colour scheme!!

we had turquoise too!! i used ebay for EVERYTHING!! ribbon for the cakes, ribbon for the invites, sash for flower girl, card for centre pieces, diamanes for the invites/order of service/favour boxes - and don't worry if it doesn't match exactly - it all comes together on the day! - i've attached some pics to show that none of it is an exact match but it really doesn't matter! we had hot pink flowers so the BMs had hot pink pashminas to go with ther dresses and i used the 'magic umbrella' which was ivory - its been used by loads of brides and its still in the packaging because its never been needed - despite our forecast for heavy rain, we had nothing!!

Maryg111 - you are awesome! (sorry for sidetracking the thread!)

We're having exactly the same colour scheme (our pink is probably a bit darker) so seeing your photos has given me shivers. That's exactly the look we're going for. I could look at yout photos all day long!

Ah, that's so nice of you - thank you! It was a really difficult colour scheme and i tried too hard to get everything to be an exact match - but i had all shades of aqua on the day! and if people notice, then they shouldn't be so picky!!

I pick up my cd of professional photos on thursday (so excited!) so there will be plenty more - i am working on my wedding report but it is SO long!! trying to cut it down so i don't send everyone to sleep!!

good choice on the colourscheme girls - and just ebay, ebay, ebay all the way!!!!

re hair/make up - i had mine doen but only bacause my friend has her own salon and did ut as a wedding present - otherwsie i would have done it myself as i don't wear loads of make up or have my hair done that often!

    Hey girls,

thanks for the great answers and hints. Loooove the pics!! I'm going to look for bridesmaids dresses again today, and I bought some ribbons in aqua/blue/turquoise colors (a set of 5 different color shades) from John Lewis today just to have something. Will look at ebay, too.

THANKS! If you have more pics, please post Smiley smile

    Hi Anja,

I put together all things aqua/turquoise so you can see how it doesn't matter if they are all a bit different!! let us know if you find your BM dresses!!

    Great pictures!!!

I now got a navy blue dress from Coast for the bridesmaids because it has a slimming effect as they wanted and the turquoise were not so pretty (my bridesmaids were a bit picky). I will attach a teal silk flower to the dresses.

Thanks also for the other tips, I'm now a ebay-hunter Smiley smile
