Twist and wrap dresses

MrsFoz-2b, 3 February, 2013 at 21:28 Posted on Planning 0 12

So I don't come on here very often but am now (slowly) getting into my planning. I have started looking at bridesmaid dresses and have seen these twist and wrap dresses by BHS. I had a search but only one post about these a while ago.

Has anyone tried/got one of these dresses? They look good on the model (but she is tall and v. skinny) but I want to see what they look like on real people!

This is the Sapphire one. I love the colour!

Any help would be great!

Thanks! my bm is 5'3 too about a 12 at the moment but will apparently be a 8 by the wedding!

The Ocean colour is lovely, I originally wanted a really dark blue but I think the sapphire is a colour that anyone can wear!

Not sure how they compare to the price of the BHS ones but the Two Birds bridesmaid dresses are fab ://www.twobirdsbridesmaid.co.uk/. We did a wedding last year where all 6 bridesmaid had them tiedin a differnt style. They do loads of colours too.

    Hi,

I would really recommend. We have gone for the Jade ones- I have 3 adult bridesmaids (size 8,10 and 12) and all different body shapes. They look gorgeous on them and the fabric is very thick and good quality (it hangs well).

Only problem is bras- the different backs made a traditional bra difficult!

I've just ordered swatch samples from Coralie Beatrix on Etsy after doing some research. Originally saw some on a wedding blog from Orchidea Boutique on Etsy which were lovely, it's just that I liked CB's colours more. The price is more favourable too.

I like the fact that they are versatile but as a larger busted woman I can say that I would not want to wear one myself.

I was bridesmaid in these in October and all six of us wore them in black. We all have very different shapes and one of us (not me!) was heavily pregnant too. Everyone said how nice they looked and they were comfortable to wear. We all wore them differently too. I'll try to get a photo of them for you.....

I haven't worn that exact one but I have worn shorter twist and wrap dresses and they are ridiculously clever things! Just make sure you practice and decide the style before the actual day, because sometimes it takes a bit of experimentation

I like them and I love the fact that each girl can be different but a lot of the pictures seem to have no back which just wouldn't work without a bra. None of my BMs would be happy braless.

Personally i love them and think they are very versatile but on a professional front Ive had a number of bridesmaids in the shop absolutely distraught after they have been asked to wear them as they are sizes 16+ and all that extra fabric has to go somewhere! They are usually stretch jersey which is not very flattering when you have lumps and bumps they cling too plus the bra issue is another thing to consider. I think Im right in saying the Two Birds have a bandeau type top that you wear underneath the main dress if you want more coverage but again it just adds extra bulk if its not needed.

I saw them on models at the Burghley Wedding show and they looks incredible but when I got my size 20 model to try them on the look on everybodys face said it all.

    Hi,

Lovely colour. Perhaps a little girly trip and try one on. I would think they flatter all shapes.

    Thank you ladies!

The majority of people seem to be saying good things about them!

Price wise they are a bargain at £80, I believe this is less than half the price of the two birds ones!

I think I have found them in store at the Milton Keynes store which isn't too far away for me so may have a trip, if not I may just buy one and have a play at home! Will try to give you an update if I do this!
