Two genral household questions

alfie, 19 May, 2009 at 20:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

We have a pine wardrobe that is looking a bit tatty but dont have the money to buy a new one just now so I was thinking of painting it. I was just wondering can you paint paine and if so do I use a gloss or a flat paint?

Secondly my little girl has has what she calls crinkle chips at nursery and now wants me to make her some.I recall when I was younger my nan had this thing where after you had took the skin of the spud you got this metal thing which sliced them into a wavy type shape.I have looked in all the local shops and on line but cant seem to find anything that does this.If some one knows what I am on about and can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

I've no idea about the wardrobes but this is what Mum used to use for crinkle chips!

Pine can be painted, would recommend sanding it down first to get a smooth finish and then using a wood paint so either gloss or satinwood.

I got a serrated slicer free with my order at a pampered chef party but probably google or try lakeland, you might be able to get a special attachment for a mandolin or food processor.

I'd second the oven chips route - making home made chips is an unnecessary faff in my opinion ?

As for the wardrobe, make sure its smooth before you start painting and just use a wood specific type paint - there's plenty to choose from.
