Tying together my orders of service...

hazyclaire, 27 October, 2012 at 21:16 Posted on Planning 0 5

I need a way of punching holes into the spine of my orders of service, a hole punch won't work as it put two holes in when it's opened up and I only want one, if you see what I mean? Is there such a thing as a long reach hole punch? Or can anyone offer advice? Thanks

We got stretchy silver twine and used that to hold them together, would this be an option? Im sure there is a long hole punch, just google it.

I think you can get long reach hole punches - seem to remember using something similar at school. But I'm pretty sure you can also get single hole punches and then you'd only have to go from the top down, rather than all the way in from the side to the middle - if that makes sense?

    Hope this helps

I have seen it done this way a few times, hopfully you can see how.

Give it a try and see how it works, don't worry about it falling apart as in reality they are not really handled much

I bought a corner punch so I could tie them and the string would stay in place.

You could buy an eyelet setter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njYDJ6u9ptY (skip to about a minute in the video).

or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfx64F0Pq_0 Ignore reference to the actual eyelets, you just need to make the hole.

If you make a template, then you can mark each Order of Service with a pencil, and then all the holes will be in the same place.

Long reach hole punches are too widely spaced and the holes are too large.

You can also buy an eyelet tool and a hammer. The holes aren't massive and you can still thread ribbon through the holes if yo use a medium hole setting.

    Hope this helps x

Thanks everyone, I went to hobbycraft and bought a single hole punch that you use with a hammer. Was quite good for taking out my frustration that h2b was watching football instead of helping!
