U2 were phenomenal!

AnnaBanana, 15 August, 2009 at 22:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 76

Just wanted to share some pics of U2 at Wembley last night, it was an awesome awesome gig!! special thanks to Zooropa who sold me her spare tickets so without her we wouldnt have gone and had the best night ever!! as you can see we were very close to the stage, so the 7 hour queue, sweatiness, frizzy hair, hunger and thirst were very much worth it! have major U2 comedown now ?

?

Awsome pics. A lot of mine are blurry.

They were indeed awsome. I was slightly worried beforehand as I'd heard the reports that they were lackluster and Bono's voice was failing but it was nothing like that. I have never seen them so up for it especially Bono (Nick - The only time he really got the crowd to sing was one verse of I still haven't found what I'm looking for and that was ace). The set had so much energy (although I was slightly wierded out by the remix of Crazy Tonight) and I'm exhausted from all the jumping. I wish I was going again.

Very embarrassingly........please do not repeat.......I once had to do a job with Bono and hadn't met with him before........I stupidly called him "Mr Bono" <hides head in shame icon>

On a seperate note....I was at Newbury today and two weeks ago at Kenwood House. On both occasions it was a Simply Red concert. Both events were quite outstanding. Today specifically, there were in excess of 25000 people at a venue not used to numbers like that. The organiser who brought the after races"Party in the Paddock" to the racecourse has really revitalised the venue.

Fantastic pictures, a few of my mates saw them in Dublin a few weeks ago, they said it was mind blowing!

I'm off to see them in Cardiff next Saturday with my H and B&SIL. I will be 36 and half weeks pregnant and SIL will be 34 weeks so not much jumping around for us!

I saw then on Friday night too plus saw them on their opening night in Dublin. The sound where we were was dodgy on Friday night but it was so much better than Dublin. The atmosphere seemed more electric and I much preferred the set list.

They were wicked though. There have been rumours this will be the last tour. Anyone know if that is true please?

Me and Chicken went on Friday night - we had seats very near the stage. I thought it was great...though not as good as when I saw them at Twickenham a few years ago. Still, a top night though.

Just wanted to add that I thought it was very well organised for getting people to the tube as well. It was great. Much simpler than driving for Take That!

I was very surprised how quickly the queue went - this was it when I joined it:

Im going to Cardiff too, to seats thi time so will see the stage a little differently! Can't wait.

I don't think anyone can know if its their last tour. I really, really hope it isn't. Its one of the best experiences ever to see them live.

Zooropa - you were way behind us. We were stopped for the first and only time very close to the underground steps. We left literally as they finished singing the last song. we even got a seat on the tube which was perfect!

To tell you the truth I don't know how I managed to get back to my hotel. It took me so long to get to the tube queue becuase I was very dizzy and at one point was tempted to find a steward or someone as I felt so bad. I think I was dehydrated as it was so hot and I hadn't had much to drink being on my own in the ga queue. Once I got into the pit I had to leave again after 30 mins to get a drink as I thought I was going to faint - I was sweating so much and my back starting hurting quite badly.

Wouldn't of been a problem if I hadn't been ripped off by the booking company i used to book my original hotel that was only 15 mins walk away ? Got to try and get the money back on that tomorrow.

About 20/25 mins walk from shepherds bush market station - although at 1 am the walk was a little scary so I think I did it in 15.

Anyway - here's my poor offering of photos:

Wahhh you clearly were on edge's side! I had very little edge contact ? I suspect he can't move about too much cos of his pedal guitar effect thingy? I just looked and im on the same side in Cardiff (adam's side). Will be interesting to have a perspective of the whole stage this time, although GA was amazing!

I worked out that I'd need to see another 8 shows to get a good perspective (ga middle, ga adam's side, ga outside edge, ga further back, seated all 4 sides) - I'm rather sad aren't I? ? To get over my U2 come down I have been downloading videos from youtube and have recreated the setlist on my ipod. looking forward to listening to the show on Thursday now (just in case you haven't seen it - http://www.iloveu2ontheradio.com )

I got the red one with the horizon but it's got a hole in it that I only noticed after I got it back home. I thought I'd get another off the site but it's not there - the green shush now one in medium. It would be really cool if you could get hold of one for me but don't if you have to go out of your way.

Don't suppose anyone would like to buy a standing ticket?? Face value???

Sadly, my baby won't take a bottle despite our best efforts and even if she did now, our babysitters have fallen through. Gutted! She's 4.5 months old, so when we bought the tickets we couldn't have envisaged this being a problem but she's a stubborn little mite ? I've seen them before (including Slane Castle - best EVER!) so it's not a total disaster but we bought the tickets for ourselves as an anniversary present. Sniff....

And to top it all off, we're also supposed to be going to see Bill Bailey on Monday (the U2 tickets were really more a treat for me than H ?) and that's also looking doubtful if she doesn't suddenly have a breakthrough and drink from a bloody bottle!!! Grrrrr....babies!

I've thought the same in the past [stalker icon!] It was thanks to your post about meeting BB on the train that told me he was here in Bristol, so ? And it was either you or Zooropa who posted about the U2 tour - Hitched really is useful as a PSA provider ?

Are you in Bristol, too, or local to it?

Noo ditch the wedding and come to Cardiff!!!

Im not a huge fan of their earliest work except for a few notable exceptions like Drowning man, electric co, I will follow etc. I started to listen to UF a few weeks ago as I knew it was likely to be on the set list, its ok but not one of my faves. the girls in
