Uh wedding stress/dress stress

Alsxx, 21 June, 2011 at 14:38 Posted on Planning 0 2

I'm getting married in 5 weeks (yesterday!) and have been really chilled about everything, up until my first dress fitting on friday and its left me a stressed wreck. I love my dress, but it needs to be taken in by 2 inches and I am terrified its going to end up looking awful. Plus, I'm naturally very small boned and I'm really worried that the dress will be taken in, but the (sort of moulded) chest area will stay the same (I cant see how they can change it) and I won't 'fill' it, even with a strapless bra and that I will end up looking really flat chested. Sorry that probably sounds really daft, but I'm so worried it's going to turn out not at all what I want. Has anyone else ever had to have theirs taken in by a lot and can share their experiences to (hopefully) put my mind at ease?

This in turn has lead me to stress about everything, how the flowers will look, my hair.....does this mean I am now officially a 'bridezilla'??

When i had my first dress fitting i hated my dress. it just didn't fit like the sample did when i orderd my dress. When i went back after the alterations had been done, i fell in love with the dress all over again.

i had the opposite problem to you, i was worried that if they took the dress in there wouldn't be enough room for my chest, i put my trust in them and they did an amazing job!

Dont stress - they can do magical things these seamstresses!! I am sure it'll be fine. I was made to order my dress in a size 14 at the time, and i have lost a fair amount of weight and am now a 8/10. They had to take my dress in about 4+ inches and they had to take the grosgrain ribbon sash off to do that as otherwise the detail on it would've been under my armpit! It fits like a glove now - but like you i was worried til i had my 2nd fitting. But try not to as it should all work out fine!

? Thanks both. Trying not to worry!

Yep as daft as it sounds, I felt it didn't look as good as the sample I tried on, which I think was a 12 or 14, and my dress was orded in a 6....so work that one out!!

I tried one of those new strapless wonderbra's, will probably give that a go at my next fitting. Has anyone tried these, or the la senza ones?
