UK Minimoon - UPDATED WITH FLASHES***

WickyWack, 4 April, 2013 at 12:48 Posted on Planning 0 10

Any one booked one? I'm getting all boggle eyed looking at websites! Just need a bit of inspiration for a 2-3 night stay in the UK that's a bit romantic/different/self catering - not really up for a hotel as this is something I've organised separately with a posh meal.

In my head I'm picturing the cottage cameron diaz's character stays in in the film "the holiday"...

Hi, i love the idea of a UK mini moon and i have booked one 2 days after the wedding for 3 nights.

We have paid £215.00 for a log cabin in the Peak District, its private, really beautiful and has a jacuzzi. It is also self catering and has all the necessities. There is a little lake outside so we are going to put our patience to the test and go fishing together as well.

Just picturing champagne HTB and I in te jacuzzi. Smiley smile Cannot wait xxx

    Hiya,

We are doing something similar to Kroche! We've found a lovely lodge in devon so are going down there the day after the wedding.

    Google autograph lodges :-)

Somebody else posted about a Devon minimoon a short while ago and it looked so cute- that may be the type of thing you are after... I'll see if I can find the post

"The Holiday" was supposed to be set in the Cotswolds so you could try starting there (although parts of it were filmed in Godalming!). We use to stay at a nice pub called The Tollgate Inn, Kingham but it's changed hands so I can't vouch for it's quality now (although I was told it has been bought by the local organic farm so I doubt it will go downhill!). It's quite a sleepy place, good for walking & pub lunches but no shops or anything.

We're going to Bath for a few days after the wedding, been there loads of times before so we can just chill out and don't have to be tourists. We're staying at Paradise House B&B, but Oldfields and One Three Nine are also stunning B&B's!

We definitely want a short break in the UK aftewards, and will be going on our proper honeymoon a few months later. We are planning on going to Bournemouth (significant meaning as it is where we went for our first holiday) for a few nights in a 5* hotel with breakfast, dinner, a spa and an indoor pool etc just so we can relax for a couple of days (and not have to do any washing up! ? )

We had our minimoon in Devon for a few nights after our wedding. We stayed in a hotel though, but I'm sure there'll be some lodges around there. It's beautiful in that area

That looks gorgeous! And a lovely part of the country.

We're going to have a week in a lovely lodge in the Scottish Highlands and then having our safari honeymoon later in the year. We're really lucky as the lodge is my parents' timeshare and it happens to be from the day after the wedding so they're gifting us the week. It's a lovely place surrounded by forest and I'm looking forward to having a few days hiding away!!
