Underwear help

Vee Tee, 18 November, 2011 at 12:36 Posted on Planning 0 12

I've been looking online today for wedding shapewear but every result I find has straps.

Since the vast majority of wedding dresses are strapless, how does that work? Mine isn't strapless but very off the shoulder so I'll need strapless. Do you just tuck the straps in? ?

PS my problem is the size, I am a size 20-22 and a bra size 42 DD

Lots of wedding dresses have inbuilt support - just how good it is I'm not sure though, and I have also been wondering about a bra to go with my dress too. Unfortunately most strapless bras are not particularly attractive! I'm sure some OMs on here will be able to advise you.

How about a basque or corset? you can buy ones where the straps remove, and you will feel ultra sexier too. there are some really nice ones out there and there are some out there for real women with curves.

    Good luck.

I've always been a 44dd/44e so I struggled as well. I went to an independent lingerie shop in the end who measured me specifically, and was able to order me a strapless bra. It was a rather scary experience but worth it! I definatly recommend this. (weirdly she insisted I was a 36h! (the bra does appear to make ones boobs appear rather perky!)

Oh I'll be honest it was scary! I took my mum for moral support! But it was worth it, my mum took one look at the bra she put me in and had herself measured at the same time!

My dress had a corsetry back & was very supportive. I've never in my life worn a strapless dress, let alone gone bare breasted, but due to the dress support, didnt need a bra at all.

Have you checked that you actually need a bra with the dress? Lots of body sculpting things have removable bra straps, but if not, just tuck them in.

    True friendship! Lol!

I got measured and bought my bra at M&S. It's just a white strapless bra, it has a little lacy pattern on it so it's not as boring as most strapless bras. Very comfortable and they do big sizes too. I was of the opinion it doesn't really matter what it looks like, it's gonna end up on the floor regardless ?

    It's me again!lol!

    I had this problem aswell!

I'm a size 22 (and THOUGHT being the important word) that my bra size was 42f. I got so disheartened searching for months for a strapless bra (as my dress is strapless) that wasnt just plain.

My friend recommended me to bravissimo. I had a look online and straight away saw they didnt go upto my back size and dismissed it!However my friend is roughly the same size as me and she got measured in store and came out at a 38g! So i thought if that was the case maybe i was wearing the wrong size!

I went into the milton keynes store, didnt have time to get measured but picked up a 38ff and 38g and took them home to try on.

Needless to say the 38g fits me perfectly!its the most comfortable and supportive strapless bra i have ever worn (which is what we need on our wedding day).

It does have to be done up on the loosest hooks but if i do feel nearer the time a bit tight in it, i'll just and an extention strap which will loosen it ever so slightly.

I would recommend them at least to try. They are really nice in store too.

The bra was only £31 too so it didnt break the bank!

If you dont have a store near you, you can buy them online try them on in the comfort of your own home (which i like),and send them back if they are not right.

Also,I would recommend someone else doing it up for you, I know this sounds weird and normally i would twist mine round but it is so much easier when your bigger busted (especially on this type of occasion) for you to hold it on your boobs and someone do it up for you. My mum did this for me and it felt so much better than when i twisted it myself!

    This is my bra!

    Hope this helps!

I would deffo recommend that you go and get measured even if it's just for your everyday undies.

For about 20 years I wore a 36c then my sister dragged me off to get measured I now very comfortably wear a 34dd..
