emm, 14 July, 2009 at 20:19 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi, I am looking for ideas for unusual wedding favours. So not the sugared almonds please (not to offend anyone mind!)

Please tell me what you are having / had ...

Thanks!

    Hi Emm,

We've made bookmarks with a nice verse on and chocolates in an organza bag.

My friends' sister had her aunty to make welsh cakes which I thought was quite original

I've seen nice keepsakes like small candles with the bride & grooms name on or a cd of songs from the wedding

    Hope these help

We are having retro sweets of different types in little black and white polka dot handbag shaped boxes for the ladies and little tuxedo design bags for the men. I've heard of giving little personalised packets of seeds, which is a nice idea which isn't too expenive. Also I've heard of giving little miniature whiskies or baileys, which always goes down well, but isn't so cheap! After we bought ours though, we realised that the last three weddings we went to didn't even have favours... Maybe they are going out of fashion.

I think we are having wine charms. Other ideas I like are: mini pot plants, wedding crackers & fortune cookies.

Wine charms are a brilliant idea! I've also seen home made Jam/fudge, local honey, home made cookies.

(as usual - FOOD is first on my mind...)

There are soooooo many different things available from things you buy to things you make.

Do you have a theme for the wedding or is it just colours? What time of year is your wedding? A wedding I did recently, which was welsh, had wooden love spoons for the ladies with their names and date burnt on and for the men were slate coasters with a dragon and their wedding details on.

    1. Charity pins.....with an explanation that money that would have been spent on favours was donated to charity (in this case it was a cancer charity and the pin was a little daffodil)....it was in memory of a missing relative.

    2. Little bags with miniature dairy milks.

    3. little pocelain pots with bride and grooms name on top and tied with a ribbon.....can't remember what sweeties they had inside ....they'd been shipped in from Chile. The men received a miniature.

    4. One gold coin.....different, but it fitted with the colour scheme of the table.

Its wedding season so i'm seeing 3 or 4 weddings a week at the mo so i'll keep my eyes pealed for some unusual ones.

We are having white chocolate dipped strawberry for every guest. They are individually wrapped in a little bag with ribbon to match our colour.

I saw the company at a wedding fair and tried one of them and they taste amazing.

Hello We gave bulbs of the flowers that were in my bouquet and on the table. We put them in silver gift boxes from a card shop.

We had simple spring flowers for our wedding in May this year and so when our guests plant them, they should bloom around our anniversary - tulips , daffs and freesias.

We did have a family only smallish wedding (about 30) and so if you're having hundreds of people it might be a nightmare.

At a wedding I went to recently the bride had put a photo of each guest in a photo frame so they acted as name tags as well as favours.

Took a lot of work, I imagine, but it was really thoughtful. MOst of the pics were funny ones and most were with either the bride or groom. Names were written on the back.

Ruth - that sounded good (my H2B is welsh) but surely a bit expensive? love spoons don't seem to come cheap...

They look fab - wish I'd seen those before I ordered our favours (we're having personalised love hearts and some chocs)!

Also loving the bookmark and wine charm ideas!
