Unwanted solicitations in my email

Loobar, 20 January, 2014 at 03:43 Posted on Feedback to Hitched 0 3

I just received some unwanted spam messages from someone who saw my post here and managed to get my PRIVATE email.

They were advertising their service for my wedding.

This is the only wedding website I use.

I have all third party offers etc unchecked on my profile so how was someone able to get my private email?

As far as I am aware they can't. Any emails I get from anyone on here are clearly marked as coming through the forum. I may be wrong

    Hi Loobar,

I think you may have received communication directly through the forum, however no third party will ever have access to your email address.

Can you try going to 'My Wedding' under the members drop down tab - and then scroll down so that you can see 'My Account' down the left hand side of the page.

Can you then click on 'My forum preferences' - and then 'profile options'. Where it say's 'Conversations Configuration' - double check that the 'none' or 'friends only' box has been ticked - and then press save. This will prevent suppliers from emailing you directly.

Once this has been done, would you be able to forward me the message that you received, so that we can investigate this further. If you could email me, francesca@hitched.co.uk directly that would be great.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,

    Fran

That is wrong and I hope that the wrongdoer is banned.....

Yes, us vendors do like work, although there are rules which the honest vendors follow....

Loobar are you on Facebook? The reason I ask because I liked the Mori Lee page and now I get all sorts of wedding stuff on my home page. I've never put anything on Facebook about getting married so it must have come from liking one page. I don't have anything coming to my email or phone via Facebook but if I did I think I would be getting all sorts.
