Update with *Flash*!! We're you nervous before you went dress shopping for the first time?

Why are you stressed/nervous?

I was excited because they sold the dress I thought I loved. However, once I got there, the service and dress were...not what I was expecting. I found my dress in the second dress shop a couple of months later. ?

Think I'm worried that I won't find anything that looks nice, got body insecurities (hasn't everyone lol) I've lost four stone but still see the old me. Plus stripping off and trying stuff on With help of people I don't know lol x

Hey Marie, don't be nervous. You've got to enjoy every moment until you get married! I'm sure you will find 'the one' (if not at that shop maybe at the next one). Just enjoy, cheer up! ?

I was...please excuse the language...s***ting myself. I was so nervous it was upsetting me. I honestly thought that, being on the bigger and older side, they wouldn't have anything to fit; that the assistants would think I was ridiculous and that I would look awful in everything.

My fears were all unfounded but I did do everything I could to feel more comfortable (nice undies including a petticoat so I wasn't actually standing in pants and bra!). I'm sure once you get started you will feel much better.

Yep! I was really worried I was going to look awful in everything and I was worried it would all be insanely expensive. My dress came in £200 under budget, my veil and tiara were nowhere as expensive as they could have been, and my bridesmaids said I could have bought any of the dresses! Its easy to build it up too much in your head, try and relax because its a great experience

Yep! I got out the car and wanted to get straight back in....

I live in jeans and when I was little never wore dresses unless I had shorts to go underneath! I'm more grown up now but still not confident in a dress. But I bought GIANT pants and went to a shop based on a recommendation and had the most amazing time. First dress I tried on is the one I'm getting married in.

The ladies were lovely, they weren't at all bothered about me in my pants and my Mum and best mate had a great time.

I was incredibly nervous but I couldn't tell you why! I really didn't want to go. I ending up really loving it. It's easily been my favourite part of planning so far. Good luck!

I'm really nervous!! Pregnant atm and due in July so I'm not looking until December time but so worried none of the shapes I like will suit me as I'm feeling massive right now!

I'm on the larger size so wasn't looking forward to it either, but OMG the shop I went to soooo so lovely. I felt really comfortable as the lady I had was so friendly wasn't rushed at all

I've never been so nervous in all my life to the point where I wanted to be sick and looked for ways to get out of going. I don't know why but I just felt embarrassed about going. I think it was having to stand semi naked in front of a stranger and then stand in front of everyone wearing the dresses.

However, once there I relaxed and enjoyed every second of it. I'm actually a little bit upset that i've chosen my dress and don't get to try anymore on.

Don't worry though I think it's normal to feel a bit nervous/anxious just try to relax and enjoy it.

I've got my first appointment on Saturday, and yes, I'm nervous.

I've been worried from the start about looking like a little girl playing dress up and that people won't take me seriously. My mum can be quite critical as well, so I'm worried about if we clash on things.

I've booked a couple of appointments at different shops a few weeks apart so I have time to think about things and figure out what I want to do. I'm just going to try and enjoy myself though, it's supposed to be fun and exciting!

Thankyou all, I went today and it ended up being fabulous!! I told the shop my worries and my likes and dislikes and they pulled a variety of dresses for me to try. As soon as i put the first one on I loved it but thought it can't be that easy so tried about 8 others on but it was the first one for me!! So I've ordered it lol. Sorry for the sideways pic but this is my first time flashing lol, it will be more nipped in at the waist than this as this sample was a little small xx

Thankyou all so much, I loved the dress as soon as I put it on and was sold and the bonus was it came with a little 'jacket' so now I'm thinking I may wear that for the ceremony/day time but take it off for the evening and wear a statement necklace instead. Have added a pic with the jacket on, it kind of blends in, it wasn't something I'd thought of when looking but I like the transformation idea from day to evening x

I was the same i was dreading the appointments in case i couldnt fit in to any of the dresses LOL but the girls in all the shops were fab and surprisingly found my dress on the first day too x

You sound the spit of me! I was really nervous, and worried that everything would look horrible on, but ended up having the most incredible experience! I bought the second dress I tried and by the end of the day, felt like a million dollars!
