Valentine's day at your work

Holey, 14 February, 2014 at 10:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

So, where do you stand on having gifts sent to work? I'd hate it!

A girl I work with has had a big bunch of flowers and a gift delivered. She looks like the cat that's got the cream.

Anyone remember the woman from my office who got 4 or 5 bouquets last valentines? I posted on here convinced that she'd bought them for herself.

Oh yes, then went out at lunch and came home with a bunch she'd bought at Sainsburys?!

I'd be upset if MF got flowers sent to my work - only because I'd rather have the cash! He did once (when he'd been dumped) and I just put them straight in the car without anyone seeing them!

My MF asked yesterday what the name of the building is I work in... When I asked why he said that one of his colleague's Mum works here. I don't think I'd cope well if he sent me something....

Seriously, sending flowers to yourself?! Odd...! I wouldn't mind occasionally and had some delivered to my work on our anniversary (4th feb) but I work with a load of guys too and though it's quite a sweet gesture it's also a bit cringe worthy. But I'm not entirely sure why... It just is, to me anyway.

I'd hate it. I cringe enough when H gets them delivered to the door (I guess that is my workplace, ha) I tell H he's wasted his money. For the money he spent on something that is going to die in a week (at best), he could have bought me a pair of Iron Fist heels.

A girl I used to work with got sent flowers for any occasion. It got boring after the 3rd time, but bless her, she looked chuffed everytime.

My OH has sent flowers to my work 3 times, I've told him not to again because they're always over priced and he could get a much nicer bunch from the supemarket! He definately the romantic type though, not like me at all!

    I'm not bothered by it!

H isn't really the type but I don't feel annoyed when people do get them. I think it's quite sweet whether for valentine's day. anniversary or whatever.

My mam has sent flowers to my work before. That was nice.

The worst was when I was in a new relationship once and totally head over heels for him - flowers arrived at my work and I was so so happy (as were my colleagues!) - turned out it was from a supplier as a thank you, I was gutted!

I think I'd probably really like it but it has never and probably never will happen. It would be so out of character for me to get flowers at work (I only take personal calls if it's an emergency) that OH wouldn't think to do it.

Oh no - but what will happen to all her deliveries. Her many admirers will already have them ordered, and she's at home!

Funny isnt it, that she's on unplanned sick due to a 'stomach bug', and no deliveries have occured. Just cements that she bought them herself last year....

The last gift I had sent to me at work was a bunch of flowers from my ex trying to win me back.... I told the delivery lady to take them home with her....

I wouldn't mind it, but we've only got an office with 4 people in at anyone time, so it wouldn't be a big deal. I doubt my OH would ever think to send anything here though!

OH sent flowers to my old work a few times but not Ive got a train journey I wouldnt really appreciate it!

I like getting flowers though, especially now we have our own house - was never the same having them in my bedroom.

Says he has a surprise for me tonight - I hope its cake!

I think its a nice gesture, as long as the receiver isnt a dick about it.

I remember in my old work, the receptionist asked the delivery man how much they were and he told her!!! She then told everyone in the building how much they cost, I was raging.

I would love to get gifts sent to work! Not that it has ever happened. On Valentine's years ago then l got roses delivered to me at home which was exciting.

OH has sent flowers to work for me before which was lovely but I was a little embarrassed when they arrived, I think I went as red as the roses!

After I then had to bring them home on the packed tube last time he decided it's best not to send them to my office anyway.

Mr RK would never think that far ahead bless him. A few years ago I went home to my parents' house for Easter and when I came back a few days later he told me that he'd bought me an egg in the reduced 'yellow sticker' section after Easter, but then he'd got hungry and eaten it. I tried to explain that it would have been better if he'd never told me. Romance wasn't really his thing! Everyone was surprised when he decided to propose and had gone out and bought a ring beforehand. (This is also one of my favourite Mr RK stories - luckily I don't get too hung up on presents)

I sent OH some flowers 2 his work after we had a big argument when we first got together (not something I would usually consider doing as I would hate it if I was the recipient)

That said I don't think OH even knows where my office is (He knows the area of London my office is based but I don't think he knows the building or address) he has never had to meet me from work or anything so it is just something we have never discussed. I know where his is as I have met him after work on many occasions.

Oh has sent me flowers at work on valentines for the past 4 years, quite predictable really. Only my boss and I got flowers this year, £30 for a bunch of roses is a ott I would have rather a bunch of my favourite flowers from the supermarket.

That's so random! I can't imagine being like that but for the first 3 years of our relationship we were within 50 feet of each other for most of the working day....

OH knows I would be very embarrassed if he sent me flowers to work. He has had them delivered to our home in the past. I think I prefer it when he comes home with them hiding behind his back and surprises me, to me that's far more romantic.

OH also doesn't know where I work properly. He knows which hospital I work at because he picks me up after a late shift but he would never remember the name of the ward I work on or be able to find me there or thankfully send me flowers.

My H knows which hospital I work at but has never been there. I've worked at 5 in the last 5 years and the only one he's actually been to was the first, because he was referred and treated there for his lymphoma. I would bring him lunch when he was in, and go to appointments with him whenever I could. Since then we've never really needed to meet at work - if we go out afterwards we just meet at the bar/restaurant/whatever.

I know where he works but almost never go there.
