Valentines Day cards

Redbedhead, 12 February, 2009 at 10:52 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I was doing a card shop this morning to get all the birthday cards for the next few months and half of the shop was taken over by Valentines Day cards. I had to walk through to get to the birthday cards and as I did I noticed a section for family Valentines Day cards. So cards from daughter to father and the like. It is not something I even considered buying (I didn't even know they existed) but someone obviously buys them otherwise they wouldn't have them on the shelves. Has anyone here sent one of these cards? Or received one?

Nope. I don't even send one to my H. Valentines day is a load of old crap. And the cards you mention just goes to prove it's a way of card shops to make some more money.

I *think* it's more of an American thing. My relations over there always wish me a Happy Valentines Day.

Nope, sounds a bit weird to me but then we're not an 'open with our feelings' type family ?

I dont think Ive ever sent H a valentines card in the 8.5 years we have been together however this year I saw a funny card on kiss me kwik so I had to get it.

Sendin valentines card to family members is wrong - its about sending a card to someone to let them know they have an admirer

It drives me mad at this time of year. It's H's birthday on Valentine's Day so getting him a card is always a nightmare as the shops are full of pink padded monstrosities. He hates it too as it generally means we don't go out for dinner on his actual birthday as most places have a set menu and double their prices!

We're going out on the beer tomorrow night instead!
