Vaulty Manor

Babee, 30 March, 2009 at 14:16 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi ladies

I'm getting married at Vaulty Manor in February of next year. Has anyone else been married there? Did you like it? Any tips or advice would be so welcome.

Congratulations - all the exciting stuff can start now!!!!

Vaulty Manor is lovely, I think its got such a great feel to it and they really look after you. The food's great (I was a bit scared about the cut glass!). In February the twinkly lights will look so pretty (are you having them?). Been to a couple of weddings there - one in November and one in July and both times everything was lovely, the staff are good and each time we felt spoilt.

Not having been married there I probably don't have any tips except to say enjoy yourself!

Are your guests staying? The breakfast was good as well!

    Hi Babee,

Not strictly a girl, but I know Vaulty Manor really well, it's a nice venue, the grounds are quite nice and the staff are cool. The great thing from a photography point of view is that there is plenty of room inside if the weather isn't so great!

My three pieces of advice for a winter wedding are these:

1.) Make sure you have your ceremony as early as possible, so you can make use of any available sunlight. It will be very dark by 3.30pm.

2.) Use warm reds as part of your colour scheme, to give a nice cosy feel to the day.

    3.) Book a really great photographer/videographer.

Obviously the last piece of advice is valid all year round!!!!!

I can't really think of anything particular that needs attention at Vaulty, they're pretty good at doing what they do, they have good contingency plans for wet weather, the food is good etc. etc. etc.

As Pete says, it is a good venue with staff that have the right attitude. My only caveat to Petes post is that red flowers are not everyones taste....combined with a white dress this brings old viewpoints in to play....although that said, I personally, like Pete err towards red flowers, specifically in winter weddings. Photographically, they work well.

Thanks for all the feedback and comments, i just wanted some reassurance that the venue is nice and that everyone who went there had a nice time and were treated well by the staff. i haven't even thought about photographs yet or flowers and decor. My dress is gold (sounds yuk but is v nice) and boyfriend wants to wear dark grey, ummm....not sure what colour combo will go with all that!

i've realised that once you've got the big things done and sorted (church, dress and venue) there is suddently a lot of little things that really count towards the day start to become much bigger. i need to start focusing.

    Thanks again everyone

    Hi Babee

You've got lots of time still. February is great because its not as busy as later on in the year so you won't have to panic about things getting booked up early (well not quite so soon).

Church, dress and venue are a pretty good start. Talk to a good florist about your colours and they'll be able to talk to you /show you what colours will go with your colours and also be able to advise what flowers are in season. Are you having bridesmaids - what colour are they having? If OH does go with grey then perhaps you could tie in the colour of the maids/your flowers by using handkerchiefs/waistcoats/ties in that colour?
