Vegetable delivery left outside our door, not ours - WWYD?

RedB, 8 January, 2009 at 12:22 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

As stated, two bags of veg were left outside our door at some point this morning, not for us. The order slip has the name of the person they should have been delivered to, but not the address. I've called the veg people and they are closed until Monday and I've left a message. I've looked in the phone book and can't find anyone with this surname with a post code or street name that could be mistaken for ours.

What do we do with the veg? Give it 24 hours, then start tucking in? Start calling people with the surname in Bristol until I hit on the right person? What would you do?

Sounds like you've taken reasonable steps to reuinute them with their owner, so I'd probably do as you suggest. Wait 24hours and start eating! Although I'd eat the most perishable stuff first so that when the company reopens again on Monday I can call them and tell them what's happened and they can come and get what's left, should they want to.

What Boop said, although I suppose you could check whether the veg people have a website and possibly a head office you could get hold of today?

I think you've gone to reasonable trouble to try and reunite the veg, i'd give it until the end of tomorrow and then eat the veg. It would possibly have started going wrotten by then anyway.

I think you've made a pretty decent effort to contact them and given they are closed until Monday, I'd just start eating it. I suspect that even if you managed to contact them, they would say to keep it as sending someone to collect would probably be more hassle than it's worth.

It's a shame someone is going to be vegless until Monday (well obviously they can buy more ?) but you can only go so far to correct it yourself.

Well the veg people called back and it was for people a few doors down (they didn't come up in my phone book search!) So I delivered them myself and sadly no extra veg for us!

Good for you. It would be nice if the veg company offered you a discount on a bag or box if you ordered from them I reckon. Well done for being so honest.

Blimey, if I were the veg company I'd be delivering you a free bag for your trouble.
