Veil inspiration

Bookish, 14 September, 2013 at 16:35 Posted on Planning 0 10

I'm pretty set on having a veil and flowers in my hair.

My dress is tea length but I don't want a birdcage veil. I was thinking of having a bubble veil like this but the more I look at it the more I think it's too 'poofy'.

This is my dress...

I don't want anything too long. My hair is dark brown with a big chunky fringe. I'm probably going to have some kind of loose bun.

Sorry for the ginormous images!

    What about something like this?

I know it's a birdcage veil but it's a bit different as it is made from tulle rather than the usual net/mesh material ;-)

I had a tulle veil made. LOVED it. Lots of people commented on it, it was a popular choice. I wore mine off-centre, but it worked as well on straight and centred.

Even when it blew back and off my face I still loved it. And need to sell it by the way Smiley smile

My favourite topic! These are all ones I considered with my tea-length dress. Like you I started looking at much wider veils but realised they may drown me slightly. These are all Joyce Jackson veils.

Love your dress Bookish. A bubble veil would go great with it.

This is the veil I bought, it's lovely and not too 'poofy'.

Thanks everyone. Your veil is lovely Kentish but I don't know if I could cope with something covering my face, even with it being so delicate. I realise that sounds pretty stupid considering that the entire reason for them originally was to cover you up! I just like them. Those ones look lovely Icklefee, I do remember you posting about them now. Is there a website?

I was using this website but once I found the styles I liked I was googling to see where I could find them cheaper. Ebay had a few, that bubble veil retails at £95 but it was on there for £12.99 new at one point. I also got Pink Margaret to quote on a couple of them and she thought she could make them for around £20-£30 less. In the end I went with a longer veil that I purchased from ebay for £16.99.

I think I've narrowed it down to either something like this...

Or like this with some flowers...

What do we think, bow or flowers?

and does anyone have Pink Margaret's email address?

If I can help at all please let me know. This is a bride I did a veil with flowers for. Obviously this is a bird cage veil, but the principle in veil making is the same so I could make you one from the back too.

    I offer a 10% Hitchers discount too.

    Thanks

    K
