Veil length

MrsM*LZ, 5 June, 2013 at 21:43 Posted on Planning 0 3

So I had a fitting of my dress last night that my lovely MIL has sorted for me. I took this opportunity to try everything on including my veil. I have a full length veil bought second hand and I love this almost as much as my dress. However it is about 18" longer than my dress. MIL suggests moving the hair slide to shorten it but this will alter the length of the piece to cover your face (haven't decided on this yet)

The edging of the veil is finished with stitching - not sure how to describe it!

anyway, what would you lovely people suggest? Any other ideas other than moving the hair slide?

thanks!

Does it look wrong being longer than your dress? I've just looked at cathedral length veils on google images - a lot of them are longer than the dress and I think they look fab! It seems to show the veil off really well when it's a bit longer. If the edging is stitched then I'm not sure what you could do to change the length really unless your dress maker could shorten it and re-edge it for you. Sorry, I realise that that's probably no help at all! ?

Yes quite often in pictures they seem to be longer have a look at a few on Google images and see how yours compares. I guess a good seamstress could shorten in for you though

18 inch over sounds a bit long but no one will notice. When the veil is over length of the main train then it is usualy around 10 max.

I have some veil info here and will look for some other shots for you with the veil longer than the train

You are not going to be able to move the hairslide enough to get a better length. have a look at how the veil is attached to it and shorten it there
