Veil or not?

shetlandlover, 27 May, 2012 at 13:00 Posted on Planning 0 14

I really want my hair down on my wedding day but I can't have a Veil if I have it down.

Should I just have it up so I can wear the veil?

Why can't you wear a veil with your hair down? I think it can look lovely!

How says you cant have your hair down with a veil?

Google images "veil with hair down" for lots of great ideas.

Im having my hair up under my veil but with a couple of cleverly positioned pins that mean it can be dropped to a half up do later for the evening

This surely depends on your hair type and the length/weight of the veil?

I will be having my hair half up and down with a very long veil!

On another note (and I have searched for this topic but have now give up) when do you take the veil off?

Mine is very long but I love it and want it to be in lots of photographs.

I have a bolero to hide my arms when I take it off Smiley smile

Surely if that is the only reason then whoever is putting it in should be able to pin it in for extra security.

If you want a veil then have one!

I'm having my hair down with just a bit pinned at the top and I'm wearing a 72" veil from the crown of my head and think it looks lovely!

I'm not taking my veil off at all Chuckles!

I had my hair half up (just the middle section over a styling 'bump' to give height) with an elbow length veil. We over-ran at the hairdressers' as he had to put so many pins in to secure it (it had a comb- he said it's much easier with veils without a comb as the comb was where all the weight was). It still fell out halfway throught the evening, but that was enough for me anyway. I would've still worn one with this hindsight, as I think it really made the bridal look for all the important photos.

I had my hair down and a floor length veil - no problems with it falling out and I loved it. I took it off when I did the first dance as I didn't want to catch it - we did a rather energetic first dance!
