Each person is diffrent, but I personally think that a Bride isnt a Bride without a veil!

I'm in the same situation but my dress is being made so I won't know until just before the wedding what it will look like.

I think I'm going to get one and can then change my mind if I want to.

I love veils but it depends on the bride and the dress, no one can make up your mind for you, why not try one on with the dress (if you have it or when you go to a fitting) and you can see whether or not it suits you/your dress

I thought I didn't want one, but when I tried one on it completed the look (and the bride-y feeling). Not all dresses suit veils, and veils are so varied too. A good bridal shop will tell you what would work and what wouldn't. For example, I have an elbow lengths veil because a long one would hide the detail on my dress.

Oh, and it also depends on how you want your hair!

I'm also pretty undecided about this. part of me thinks I will feel a bit silly wearing one, but then i think, it's the only time I will ever wear one.

I plan on trying some on in the bridal shop so I know the styles that suit my dress, then buying a cheap one so I can decide how I feel once I have my dress.

I was dead against a veil - don't know why, just always thought they were a bit princessey and just not me. I didn't even try one on with my dress - it didn't enter my head to. But then I thought I'd quite like to wear something on my head so decided on a birdcage. Having said all that, I've seen brides on here wearing veils and I am starting to change my mind (a bit!)

Hi Lisbee, a nice compromise is a bird cage veil, I absolutely love them, very timeless glamour and won't take away from the neckline of your dress, and can be removed or lifted to higher on the face after the ceremony. L x

This is a lovely one... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=404962939550560&set=a.313573732022815.69472.129905497056307&type=3&theater

I never wanted a veil, it was something my mum pushed as its traditional, i'm not getting married in a church so didnt want anything over my face, but as soon as I put it on I knew I had to have one, so ive gone for a single layer train length veil and its perfect, but its each to your own the birdcages are lovely, or just a stunning tiara I think would do the job

I want one because I'm getting married in a church so think it's more appropriate to cover up a bit! Also so I will look different from day to evening. but will have photos with and without it I think.

I ordered mine on Saturday, it's full length with an elbow length blusher, with a 5" scatter of crystals and pearls - very princessy! Not what I thought I would go for at all but looked nicest with my dress and ties together the crystals on my dress and my pearl jewellery.

I've been back and forth on this so many times it makes my head hurt! I didn't want one and I was fine with that, then OH said he couldn't wait to lift the veil off my face at the aisle, so then I started looking at birdcages (my dress is quite 50s and also has a gorgeous back that I refuse to cover up!). Then OH read what the "lifting of the veil" traditionally symbolised and said he wasn't bothered by it anymore, so I was back on no veil. But I can't get the birdcages out of my head! So now I'm sat somewhere in the middle not knowing what to do! A lot of the ones I've seen are too big and poofy, or get too close to my face - I'd get annoyed and keep fidgeting with it. Plus I have a good idea of what headband I want, and wouldn't want to cover it up with the birdcage once it's flipped up off my face, so I think I've created an impossible task - finding a small, light birdcage that can be attached and then removed from an existing headband! Argh lol!

Hello! Don't worry, I think there is a solution. I've placed in veils for brides before which were on two small silver combs. We fastened in the birdcage veil then placed the headband over the top so looked like one headpiece. I show one of the bridesmaid's how it's fastened in so they can help bride remove headband, take off or reposition veil then replace headband later in the day if needed. Folksy has huge range here's a search for you: http://folksy.com/search?t=items&q=birdcage+veil&commit=Search. I would be more than happy to have a play if you're ever around Birmingham, you could bring your veil and headband, anything to encourage the vintage look hehe! ?

I'm a definite nope to veils.

My gut feeling was I didn't want one, but anted to remain open-minded throughout my search for dress and accessories so ddi try some on that the shop when i bought my dress.

It didn't feel like me, and I'm not sure they suited the dress either (alhtough I'm sure if I'dhave wnated one there would have been something out there that looked fabulous!).

Oh, and ours is a registry office, too, so was also conscious that I didn't want to be too OTT - andI think my dress says enough!!

Try loads on with your dress - it's the only way you'll really know Smiley smile
