Veils... Can you flash/describe yours please or just make suggestions, I'm struggling - 27 days to go!!

jimjams, 14 April, 2013 at 09:37 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi All,

I am having a real problem shopping for veils - all the shops I've been in have a very limited selecting and on-line the pictures seem to be far more of the model than the veil itself... I have less than 4 weeks to go and I am starting to worry - I need your help!

Can you flash me, or tell me what veil your having and where you found it... Please??

I am wearing Enzoani Gerry and have my heart set on Cathedral Length, but that's not to say that couldn't change if I saw one I loved at another length. I've attached a picture of me in my dress which might help with suggestions of other types that could work...

Thank you so much, any help at all greatly appreciated!!

    Wow you look beautiful!

My dress is similar to yours but more a line and I have gone for a 2 tiered lace edged veil.. I same as you I wanted a cathedral length veil but when tried with my dress it felt like I was carrying it around with me so went for the shorter length - here's the link to my veil:

    Hope this helps xx

WOW - You look absolutely AMAZING! I love love love love love your dress!

I'm kind of picturing a single tier cathedral length plain veil - you have such nice detail on your dress I don't think a veil needs to add anything.

And I think single tier because if you are wearing your hair in that style it looks so nice that I, personally, don't think the veil needs to frame your face loads.

Thank you both very much, that's so nice of you :-)

I know what you mean about feeling like you're carrying the veil, but I tried one very light Cathedral length one on and just fell in love, but I feel exactly the same about the detail on my dress being enough and so only wanting a simple veil, but everything I've seen seems to be covered in crystals or pearls, not only adding detail I don't feel I need, but weight too.

Your veil on the link is beatiful, that's exactly the sort I chose before I put on the Cathedral and just loved the dramatic look it gave... No-one will expect me to go for that look either which is another reason I think I want it even more lol!

I wouldn't have thought it would've been as hard to find as this!!

    Hi JimJams,

Firstly, I love this dress. It looks stunning on you!

personally, if it was me I think I would go for a scallop edge veil. It is simple so doesn't take away from your dress, but also ties in to the shape nicely. Could you go to the dress shop and ask to try on all their veils with the dress for inspiration?

    Thank you very much :-)

Unfortunately, I already tried that but they had very limited stock and mostly very "over the top" in my opinion, lots of crystals and pearls on them and not at all what I am looking for. I am trying to look online, but they're so hard to see in pictures, the details so tiny and mostly ironically pictured on white backgrounds making it almost impossible to see properly!

I think I am getting a little closer to knowing what I want/like, but I am still unsure of where to get them!! :-(

Jimjams I love your dress and the back is to die for.

I found two sites, but I am waiting for my dress to come back before I get a veil because its so long since I got it, and I really wanted a lace edged veil (known as Mantilla) but as my dress is very lacy and quite detailed, I dont want it to look OTT.

I have decided to have one custom made for me to match this american design - beause only a crazy woman would spend $700 on a veil. Even if she DID have credit ;-) https://www.bhldn.com/shop-shoes-accessories-veils/curving-periphery-veil if you notice, the lace starts at elbow height so maybe a bit subtler I thought?

I also found these two websites:

    http://www.asyoulikeitweddingveils.com/

    https://www.rainbowclub.co.uk/about-us/our-brands/joyce-jackson-gallery/

    Both will make bespoke veils.

I thought about it like this:

1 - do I want the veil to cover my face? NO therefore I want single tier rather than double tier.

2 - Do I want that super long cascading look? YES thefeore I want cathedral length assuming it looks right with my dress!

3 - Do I want pure silk or tulle? I want a more sheer look so tulle is probably better as it doesnt hang and bunch like silk and stays open

4 - do I want a lacy edge? yes unless I look like miss haversham lace overload

Hilarious! I bet it is beautiful, honestly I'd be getting the one on that website if I wasn't already over budget! I also fell for some beautiful Claire Pettibone ones that were around that price.

I don;t blame you at all - just jealous!!!!!!!!!
