Venue booked! Anyone else using Abode Chester?

Elixia, 1 November, 2012 at 11:00 Posted on Planning 0 14

I booked it last Friday and yesterday booked the registrar! so that the important stuff out of the way! very exciting!! I was going after the ashes but it proved to be too expensive and too far to travel for most guests.

heres a link to the venue: https://www.hitched.co.uk/wedding-venues/abode-hotel-chester_5754.htm

no hitched reviews yet, so i wonder, has one here had or been to a wedding there? anyone else booked it? I know they're very new!

The Abode would have been our choice of venue as we spent our first weekend away together there and Chester is our "special" place! However, FMIL is ill so we have arranged the wedding in a rush and we can't be sure she will be able to travel that far. We are going as part of our mini-moon instead. The service and food has always been amazing so I'm sure your wedding will be too.(There is a gorgeous cocktail bar down the road too)

I'm hinting believe me! But if not all of the rooms we've stayed in before were lovely. Only got one night as we are staying at Rookery Hall on the way up for a much needed spa break! Organising a wedding in 20 weeks is taking it toll lol!

Well, we managed to get 60 day guests with arrival drinks, 3 course meal with drinks, coffee and petit fours, ceremony room hire, 90 evening guests and dj. bridal suite with champagne. (they also boosted my drinks package to champagne) on a friday, along with other perks all in the michael caines restaurant, for £5250. not bad since haslington hall wanted £12,000 for a similar setup and the ashes was something like £7,500 on a sunday

if you wanna see inside, theres some great picture on here, on hitched in the venues list. its georgous. and needs so little decorating, i wouldn't want to spoil it!

I have booked Abode for our wedding in May 2013. It is such good value for what you get. We are just having our reception there in Michael Caines 5th floor restaurant as we are getting married in a church in Tarporley. This link has pics of another reception there

I'm just having simple potted orchids on the tables as it is so gorgeous and modern in there loads of lowers might look a bit too fussy. I was worried the dancing area might be too small but I went back in recently and it looked plenty big enough - they move all of the chairs out of that area too so you can have more space.

    When is your big day?

Having mine on the 5th floor too! its so swanky! and yeah, too many flowers would be overpowering the place. I was thinking if flowers like these:

also getting married there (they cut me a good deal!) my day is the 7th March 2014!

I was worried about the dance floor but i went for another visit 2 weeks ago and remember how big the bar is!

They are lovely - good choice. You have plenty of time to decide on all of the details if it's in 2014... get as much done as early as possible. I'm pretty much done now apart from the smaller details (name cards etc). Everyone keeps asking if I am stressed but I think I'm maybe in 'calm before the storm' mode (or just very organised!) My table flowers are like these...

Going to put some candles around them too.

The bar area is very big and I like how there is also the other room for those who don't want to get involved in the noise and dancing. We are having a band and putting them to the left of the bar by the window.
