Venue booking timeline

MrsOh, 23 August, 2012 at 13:04 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi,

I'm very new to all this (my fiancee(!) proposed a couple of weeks ago) and I have started to look around and ask question, as you do.

We were hoping to get married in November next year but after having a look around here and reading a few posts I am think I have missed the boat alittle. I plan on having the reception and ceremoney in one venue (if in the UK that is). Is it alittle late? Should I be more realistic and look at dates in early 2014?

I dont particularly want a long engagement and I am fortunate to have the funds to organise a wedding already available to us so saving up isnt going to be an issue. Just in need of alittle advice and, I guess, some reasurance. I hadnt planned to look at venues in person until October time...

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

congratulations! No I don;t think November next year is too soon, we go tengaged and booked our venue about two weeks ago for the beginning of December next year (both ceremony and reception) and we visited about 6 places and enquired with more and not one of those struggled for availability around that time. We were even offered dates for this November/ December at much cheaper costs as well, like 50% cheaper at least at some of them!

    Hope this helps!

November is definitely not too early.

It's out of 'wedding season' so first choice suppliers are likely to be available.

If you have the funds I'd go for it.

What kharv said, we booked last November for our wedding next month, I htink it depends what venue you want. But then as everyone said November is out of season so you shoudl be ok.

Go for it and have fun with all the planning!

I would start to shortlist venues now though and start to go visit them. this way your more likely to get your first choice of date at your favourtie venue. a friend of mine got engaged in may and has booked his wedding for nov this year so your deffo not too late

    Congratulations!

I'd go for your original plan of November. My friend has just booked her wedding for September 2013 which can be a fairly busy time so you shouldn't have much problem with November.

Let us know how you get on ?

Ah, thank you all for getting back to me so soon, definately put my mind at ease!

I have a list of venues in the area I want already. Then i just have to decided whether I want to do it in the UK or not...

Oxfordshire, Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire way... Will be moving close to banbury next summer and its easy to get to considering the majority of our families are spread far and wide.

But then we may decide that we go abread and get married with a big party when we get back... Just so much to decide on...

Hi Congratulations on your engagement. It is certainly not too late to get married November 2013, but the type of wedding you maybe hoping for largely depends on your budget and guest size. As it is out of season, you should have a lot of choice and options. Certainly secure the church/venue you want as soon as you can. It can be very stressful and daunting but if planned carefully your wedding should run smoothly. If you need any further advice, please feel free to contact me, very best of luck.
