We're paying £65 a head for canapes, arrival drink, 3 course meal, half bottle of wine per person, drink for speeches, candelabras, cake stand, place namecards and an evening buffet. Children under 12 dine free. We'd have to pay an extra 2 grand for exclusive use of the hotel but we thought it wasn't worth it.

No venue hire on top of that but we're getting married in a church so don't know if they normally charge for the ceremony room hire.

We get the honeymoon suite in the hotel and a bottle of bubble thrown in with it, some places don't which I think is pretty bad.

Our ceremony venue was £575 just for the room hire, which I thought was a bit steep but we didn't really have a choice. Our reception venue was ~£6500 for use of all the grounds, the hall, the bar in the evening and a couple of extra rooms in case of wet weather, wedding breakfast for 77 (not including wine) and snacks for the evening.

We are looking at a village hall that costs £600, we get it from Friday morning so we can get in to decorate and set things up. That just includes the hall, tables and chairs, and use of the kitchen, we have to get everything else ourselves.

I feel like I'll be paying way above average for my venue, but I love it, and even though we haven't booked it yet, the total should be coming to roughly £12k for:

Exclusive use of the venue and gardens

Ceremony and wedding breakfast for 70 people

2 glasses champagne or pimms at drinks reception

    3 course wedding breakfast

    1/2 bottle wine per person

    1 glass champagne for toasts

Dedicated event manager and staff for the day

Complimentary room for the bride and groom, with 20 other onsite rooms for guests at an extra cost.

I wish it wasn't so much, but I desperately wanted a medieval building with on-site accommodation for my overseas guests, so it ended up having to be a gorgeous castle Smiley smile I'll be doing everything else on the cheap, though, so I'm hoping to keep the budget reasonable.

    Hey

We are paying £650 for the use of the room to get married in, and the use of the room to have the wedding breakfast and evening reception. We automatically have exclusive use of the venue.

We want to use outside caterers, so we have to pay £250 for kitchen hire.

If we want to take our own wine in, we have to pay £6 corkage per bottle, or we can have their wine, which starts at £10 per bottle.

    Hope this helps x

We are paying about 13k and for this we get:

-exclusive hire of Elizabethan manor house, gardens, and converted stables (drinks reception in main house and gardens, meal and party in the stables)

-canapes and 2 drinks during drinks reception for 95 people

-4 course meal, 1/2 bottle wine and coffee etc for 95 people

-champagne to toast for 95 day guests

-front of house/event manager on the day

    -all staff

-cake stand/knife etc (this bit made me laugh - I should bloody think so for 13 grand!!)

-cheese, bread, chutney and biscuits for all 95 day guests plus another 40 evening guests (instead of a buffet)

And that's it I think...it doesn't sound like much I guess for the money, but the venue is beautiful and the food is prepared by an amazing caterer who own one of the boy's most favouritest restaurants in. the. world. So I do feel like I am getting value for money, if not quantity! Also, we are having a total of 135 guests, which is a fair whack I guess in terms of volume of food/drink. We could have got it a lot cheaper (as you would expect) if we had cut our guest list to 50, but this wasn't an option for us.
