Venue Decoration

RebTheEck, 23 August, 2012 at 12:04 Posted on Planning 0 13

This is our venue looking towards one end:

The other end is similar with another balcony but no fireplace.

Question is, would you add extra decoration into the venue itself? OH think we need more, I'm not sure we do.

We'll be having white tablecloths but not seat covers, a purple sash on front of top table with a long and low flower arrangement on it.

The ceremony will be held in a separate room where the afternoon tea will also be served, we'll only be in the room for our sit down dinner in the evening.

Had thought about garlands on the balconies but wonder if they wouldn't get noticed?

What are your thoughts?

    This venue is lovely!

I am also getting married in a barn and share your predicament...when we actually went to view the venue, it had been set up for a wedding and the florist was in the process of wrapping garlands around the beams...we were asking about the floral decorations and she even said herself "What are your guests going to remember: floral garlands, or the fact they had enough to eat at the evening buffet?". It definitely got me thinking!!

I don't think you NEED them, but they look pretty and if you have the budget left, then I think it might be nice.

Another thing to consider might be battery operated fairy lights wrapped round? You can get them relatively cheaply online.

We're getting married in a really rustic barn and having some wild flowers on a couple of beams but not much as it will detract from the rustic nature of the barn - However we are having lots and lots of fairy lights wrapped round the ceiling and beams. x

Ooh, fairy lights are a good idea, adds something but not too much.

OH was pondering hiring some topiary trees but I'm not overly struck with that idea & would be rather expensive.

    Thanks

We are getting married in a barn and the beams have some chiffon material and fairly lights wrapped around them. We are hiring topiary trees, they are £25 per tree so not overly expensive.

My sister got married in a barn like this and they had fairy lights wrapped around the handrails and balcony and a flowers on the centre of the balcony. Looked lovely and twinkly at night.

The venue decoration is decided was based on the couples wedding theme. For the table centerpiece, usually the wedding flowers will keep the centerpiece. It is great to have a dinner in balconies and the environment is really a good choice.
