Venue Decoration Ideas needed please x

*PrincessMeMa*, 17 May, 2013 at 10:05 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi all, Below is a pic of my venue... its not the best looking venue I admit... we chose it mainly for location, price and because we can bring in our own caterers at no additional cost.

I've decided it needs some decoration to make it less boring looking, but I have no idea what to do (I also don't have huge amounts of money, or much time before the big day - 2 n half months!)

The colour scheme is Turquoise and Red, so nice a vibrant. With a countryside/rustic feel - think Gingham/hog roast

What I have so far... We will be having white linen and chair covers, with Turquoise table runners and sashes. favours will be mini jam jars with Red Gingham lids. Flowers on table will be white, hint of red and plenty of greenery - vases tied with Gingham ribbon.

We have Mrs and Mrs "Surname" letters for top table which will be painted white, and flowers at each end of table.

The dresser in the back of picture will host the card box and small easel with Fingerprint tree to stand on - there is a sofa area to the left of dresser, and table will have ceremony table arrangement on it.

Cake table will be red/turquoise/white cupcake tower, with top tier of white/red flowers - table decorated with bunting

Top table will also be decorated in bunting round edge

What else could I do? - Please note I do not have access to sewing machine or anything, so bunting will be bought

Here's a pic...

I think that all sounds great, why do you feel you need more than that?!

That venue looks familiar...is it The Room in the Rodings?

It sounds like you have loads already. I think too many decs can make the room look really fussy/cluttered, so I would probably just stick with what you have. It looks like a nice simple space anyway.

I think you have got everything just right. Personally, I wouldn't add anymore for fear of it looking overly 'busy'.

I agree that it looks lovely as it is and your decorations should be the icing on the cake. I like the dresser at the bottom.

I suppose I just don't find it the most attractive venue inside... its got some dodgy plate display on wooden shelf on wall (which you cant see) - i'm taking them down.

The ceiling is a bit naff, and so are the lights... I'm hoping my guests wont see these parts

Was thinking of bunting across ceiling, or across each window, but not sure -or large wicket hearts hanging from curtain rails

I know it probably sounds like I have a lot already, but come the evening some of the bits wont be there... like the favours

I love the dresser too... there is a little sofa area which is perfect for our Nans to sit and relax away from Dance floor, but still be able to see the action

Thank you everyone for the responses x

I recognised it because I'm getting married at The Reid Rooms and the style looks similar. The location is stunning and will make for beautiful piccies for you :-) I'd personally say you have plenty of decoration already as others have said. I went through a similar worry though and asked the lady from the venue about the decoration most people do etc and realised i was worrying for no reason.

Oh lovely!!! We looked at there but venue hire was a bit too much for us. The grounds there are lovely, just like Room in Rodings - that sold it to us more... just praying for nice weather!

Are you having your own caterers, or theirs? We've chosen Magpie, and having Hog Roast - praying for lovely weather so Hog roast can stay outside and be carved as and when needed

Mary is lovely, and so helpful and accommodating. I've already asked her about removing plates from wall etc - just hope I didn't offend her

Don't worry, I have heard brides before have mentioned removing the plates :-) I think we might have some in The Reid Rooms actually...I'm going for a granny chic kinda look ;-)

I've just been having a cheeky browse at The Room in The Rodings on the website and the outside is so pretty! I think the room looks pretty too when it's all done up.

We are using chicks caterers but my friend used Magpie and it was delicious! :-)
