Venue Drama Update!!!

AutumnRose, 7 July, 2010 at 16:28 Posted on Planning 0 46

First of all thank you all so much for all your support over the last couple of days - i'm am beyond appreciative and it helped so so much!!!

Finally spoke to the wedding coordinator today after all the previous drama - have basically spent the last 2 days sick with worry that the whole day was ruined!!! Wedding coordinator was back today and phoned me.

Basically it's going to be ok!!!! They have got in new builders and have a guarantee that the new building will be finished - if its not they will be paying a vast amount of money to put the other wedding up off site ie no where near the main hotel. The other wedding is arriving at 4pm and having welcome drinks on front lawn - this is well away from us as we'll be in restaurant at that point and wont be able to see or hear them. They'll be moved up to their building before we have finished the meal - after which we'll never know they are there.

They have no access to the pool/terrace are which we are using and at no point will any of our party, let alone us, be in contact with them at all.

She was extremely apologetic and genuinely sounded upset at what had happened in her absence (bet she wont be going away in July again!!). She can't believe we were even contacted and said it was their problem and not ours.

So looks like the day will be as i've planned and i can relax and enjoy the build up again!!! Even if worst case the building isnt finished they'll be moved to another venue so we will not be effected.

No offer of any compensation for the stress though but at the moment i'm just ecstatic i'm getting the wedding i've planned!!

Really pleased for you - my immediate thought was they should put other party in an alternative venue. Any wedding venue worth their salt would do this. Have a relaxing last couple of weeks now.

I am so pleased it's been sorted out to your satisfaction.

Not worth you worrying about now, but when you're back from your honeymoon and a settled Mrs, it's definitely worth a big fat letter of complaint.

I'm so glad all this has been sorted, how frustrating that the hotel contacted you when really there was no need for them too!

Enjoy the rest of the build up to your big day. I can't wait to see your report and photographs, it sounds like it'll be a beautiful day x

    Thats fab news AR!!!

thats put your mind at ease, and sounds like they can't be more apologetic, I would still ask for something to be knocked off the bill if you could for the hassle and pain and stress the last couple of days has caused.

Or at least a round of drinks on them...

    but that is fab news

I am so pleased for you. All I would say, and apologies if someone's already suggested this is that you should put down your conversation in an email to her to make sure she doesn't backtrack on anything.

Truly glad that this issue has been sorted. I am a bit bemused though as to how this came about. (I am sure this understates your view!!!)

In most circumstances the wedding co-ordinater at a venue is not the management. They are usually employed to deal with weddings and events which in itself is just part of the hotels business. I admit I don't know this venues name or full business although it would possibly appear that management higher than the wedding co-ordinater have persued the idea of allowing another wedding to part share your venue......If that is the case then it is quite scandelous....and as mentioned by others worth mum dealing with after your day. At face value the management saw the business solution to a problem and ignored the emotional ramifications of that idea.
