Venue Frustration

carleyemma, 7 May, 2018 at 21:38 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi all, I don't know if I'm ranting or asking for advice but here I go.

I get married October 6th and I'm having a bit of trouble with my venue, which I booked in January 2017 as part of a package including ceremony, reception with 3 course meal and evening party as well as including a coordinator from the hotel. I hadn't had much input from my coordinator but I put that down to my wedding being so far out. I would email the odd question off and wouldn't get a reply for weeks.

Around two months ago, I was told my coordinator had left and I had a new one. She scheduled a meeting with me and FH, I explained the frustrations we had with communication from the previous coordinator and she's apologised and assured us that going forward everything will be plain sailing - I believed her. I emailed her on 16th April about room reservations I was making for the night before the wedding for my bridal party and I still haven't had a reply. I've emailed again today saying that I've been waiting for a reply, and asked a further question.

The top and bottom of it is, I feel like I shouldn't be chasing them for the tiniest of replies and I'm really frustrated, and it makes me worried for how they're going to be closer to the big day. My FH thinks I should complain to the venue but I don't know what I'd realistically be looking to gain.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I would complain. Our wedding is 2 years today and we booked our venue 2 weeks ago, I've sent a couple of emails back and forth with questions etc and they've responded in 24 hours each time without hesitation.

Once I reply to their email, they're also usually quick as responding if needed. So I would definitely complain!

I think you should definitely complain to the venue - explain that you had this issue with the first coordinator, and now it's happening again.

They might be able to give her a kick up the backside, but they can't do that if they don't know what's happening. Every time you contact her and don't get a response, redirect your query to the manager, that way they'll have a record. Plus they'll have to sort it out - they won't want to have to keep doing her job!

They may even give you a discount or a freebie as an apology.

    Good luck!
