Venue have reduced their prices but we are paying £1000 more?

ExpensiveBlueDecor825, 29 January, 2019 at 17:14 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi guys,

Wanting some opinions on what we should do! We booked our venue for June 2019 in October 2017. We booked it for around £6000 for venue only. I have just looked at the new brochure, and they are now charging £5000 for Fridays in June. I suppose they have reduced the prices as they have made some changes. It feels a bit weird that we are paying £1000 more because we booked so far in advance. Do you think we should ask the venue about it or would that make it too awkward?!

Thanks in advance Smiley smile

If it's a cut down option to what you booked then that would explain the difference. If it isn't, it could be to secure last minute bookings.

I agree with Chris - they may just trying to offer a last minute deal to ensure they have a booking. As it's on their brochure though, I would raise the query with them. I doubt they'll change the price as it's on your contract, but they may chuck something in for free! Bit daft of them to put prices on their website.

I know that my venue is offering some deals on prices for 2019 weddings, but they don't have this on their website.

    Good luck! X

You have to discuss with the owner of the venue. may be your problem will be solved.

Our venue did the same- began advertising weddings over £800 cheaper than we paid. We raised it. Venue basically had a go at us for questioning their business practice. ?

You could try saying something but be prepared to write it off....

You're being very British to avoid asking, just because its 'awkward' ? - just ask! And if they won't gvie you money back (which I doubt) see what you can haggle in for free - perhaps a free flowing drinks reception? Extra free accommodation? Any other extras that might be appealing to you.

But, you have probably essentially paid for the privilege of securing your date. Also, you have to bare in mind at that point they couldn't be certain of various prices (e.g. it may be uncertain how much extra they would be paying for food and alcohol in the future) so they have to cover themselves for that.

So its not surprising really. Would I be p!ssed off? Yes!!!
