Venue Help!

I wonder if anyone of you really kind people might be able to help advise on our venue dilemma!

We're looking for a venue, ideally November 2017 but happy to go to spring/summer 2018 for the right place, that has a real DIY vibe.

For catering, the groom used to be an American BBQ chef so absolutely wants to do the food himself (with helpers), so we need somewhere really flexible that allows BBQs and ideally live bands too. We'd love to decorate ourselves and really make it look our own too. Location wise, SE or SW England, or possibly South Wales. Not really too fussed as long as it's not hundreds and hundreds of miles away from London!

Everywhere we've seen so far just has some caveat (no outdoor space, astronomical corkage, not available until 2023) and I'm starting to wonder if we can have the day we really want!

So, if anyone has any advise or could recommend somewhere then I'd very much appreciate it!

    Hey,

    What are your thoughts on finding land to hire and getting a marquee or tipi? That way catering may not necesserilly be part of a package. Maybe even if you know a farmer that would do a favour? We personally got married super quick and wanted the wedding to be at my family home, so we ended up having a marquee in my parents garden. We were able to get whatever food we wanted as well, so ordered some Lebanese food from a restaurant that we knew of. Would be interested to find out what you guys decide to go with ? x

    You could try The Secret Barn in Sussex, The Night Yard in Kent or consider a village hall like Iford Village Hall off the top of my head.
