    Hiii ?

I'm getting married at Careys Manor in 9 weeks :-) highly recommend it so far - the wedding co-ord there is amazing & all the suppliers we've booked can't speak highly enough of the place.

I know there's an open evening there this Wednesday where you can go & see it all set up (& have a free glass of champagne :-P) - lemme know what you think if you go!

Thanks Hannah. We are visiting on Wed. Have already been once and we did like it very much.

We will prob end up booking a Sunday next year.

Our only concerns are the prices of the rooms for our guests if they want to stay (it's not cheap!)

Also, the package for 60 is a great deal but we only really want 40-50 so wondering whether they will allow us to reduce the numbers slightly and maybe substitute with some free rooms or extra eve guests.

Were you able to negotiate at all?

Glad to hear your experience so far has been so far - not long to go!

Hi Barly81. I got married at a different hotel but they also had a minimum numbers of 60. I only had 46 people in the end . You still have to pay for 60 people but do negotiate! You are after all spending a lot of money with them. I got the food for my TOG and string quartet for free by doing this. They should offer a block booking of rooms to your guests at discount rate. Mine reserved a block of 15 rooms for my guests. ANy rooms not booked 8 weeks before the wedding went back on general sale- ask if they will do this for you.

Yeahh they're quite flexible, she deducted some money off because we didn't need the flowers included so i'm pretty sure they would adjust the price if you aren't having 60 day guests, we're having 20 extra over our package in the eve and they are costing just under £20 each so it would definately be handy if you could get those included instead.

Yehh I know what you mean about the hotel rooms! £158 we've been quoted, there are a couple of our guests that are staying there & making a break out of it & using the spa etc. but some others are staying in Brock - there's plenty of B&Bs that are walking distance which is good.

The one thing that we doubted a little was that the reception finishes at 11pm which we thought was quite early for a wedding but we moved our ceremony forward to midday & our eve starts at 6 so we get a good amount dancing time! There is a hotel bar but it's residents only - have you decided on a month yet?

We're going tomorrow as well (can't resist a final nose around before the day!) I'll be the one by the champers ?

Thanks for your replies. So helpful.

Hannah - I will let you know whether we book Careys Manor! Thank you for all your tips. We will definitely try and negotiate if we do book!

I like the wedding coordinator. She seems friendly and professional.

Enjoy your visit tomorrow night :-)

That is a huge help. Even as a supplier, when the coordinator is helpful it makes a difference x

I have shot several times at both, they are both fine venues. If your budget can stretch to it, I would also look into Limewood Hotel, or if you have a small number of guests, their sister hotel, The Pig. don't let the name fool you, it is gorgeous, lol. that said, since it changed owners, I am not sure they are still doing weddings. It was called Whitley Ridge before.
