Venue problems... 6 weeks to go!

*PrincessMeMa*, 23 June, 2013 at 15:14 Posted on Planning 0 6

So we went to our venue this weekend to pay balance and check a few details, and to say I was disappointed was an understatement... I don't know what to do

our day is less than 6 weeks away, and the venue is a mess. The carpet looks stained to beyond ruined, and looks like its never been cleaned. The ceiling looks like its had multiple leaks over the winter etc and no one has bothered to paint it.

It just all looks so unkept... The light shades and pictures are wonky etc

i feel so sad... I feel like everyone I going to notice it all and turn their noses up. Especially my sister who spent a huge sum on her wedding. I'm not into all that, my day is very different... Rustic country feel with hog roast, less Informal, and within our budget... But I'm so saddened the venue looks the way it does!

Do we just live with it, or should I say anything?

I don't believe it's me being bridezilla, because it never looked the way it does now. They have a sister venue which they plug much more... It's like this venue is the cheap one so doesn't matter as much

They had one there yesterday... I'd love to know what the bride thought.

There were also other people looking round, and booking for next year

It wasn't.. The carpet was brand new two years ago... It's not been looked after one bit.

problem is I don't know what to say without sounding like the bride from hell... What with 6 weeks to go. If h2b wasn't working away over next few weeks, he'd go and clean carpet free of charge himself!

If I was you I'd drop them a little email, be as polite as possible and raise your concerns.

You could even say that you're not sure whether it is because they hadn't done the clean up after the last wedding yet but you just wanted to let them know you were a bit disappointed.

Hope it all goes ok, also bare in mind that your guests might and probably won't scrutinise the venue like you would.

I think it might be worth saying something too as politely as possible. You're paying to get married there so want the place to be at it's very best and it's only going to play on your mind between now and then! Otherwise maybe you can mask over these things with decorations etc?

It would be hard to mask over the problems... Main problem I would say is the carpet. The space that is worst is a large open area, surrounded in sofas. No amount of strategic placing would cover the capet

i think I will drop them a polite email, as I need to ask a couple of other questions anyway. I'll just say I don't want to be a bridezilla, but wondered if they were looking to have carpets cleaned Between now and wedding

i know most people won't notice it or care, but it does bother me.. Especially when their sister venue is well looked after and highly promoted over this one.
