Venue query - AGAIN!

Jayla, 23 February, 2014 at 12:40 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hello, you may remember a few days ago I posted that I was having trouble deciding on two venues. Anyhoo, I have finally learnt how to upload photos from my phone (apologies for the size). So this is one of the venues and would be the main room we had dinner in. The tables would be round and chairs white with coordinating sash. Views are stunning.

This is would be the other venue, but we would have to pay for it to look like this. Any opinions most welcome!

The second one is beautiful! But then I think it's cos it's set up for a wedding. I'm not very good at visualising things so the first one could be just as gorgeous when set up for a wedding breakfast :-)

Have you done a pros and cons list for each venue (sorry if that was your first post I didn't catch that one!) we did that and included stuff like the cost of decorating them and it did help.

im sure your wedding will be be lovely whichever you pick :-)

Thank you for all your replies. Took oh to see both today and although he liked the first one, he said it was too small. I liked the intimacy of it as I can't bear it when it looks like there is no one there, especially in the evening. Venue two app was at 3.30. We were kept waiting until 4.15, when we have up and went home. Planner was with another couple in the same bar area and didn't even come up to us to say she was running late. I haven't heard from her since either, so I'm a little unimpressed. Oh really likes the look of it too. So, we are back to the drawing board. Argh!!! It's so difficult.

pros and cons are as follows -

    Venue two (the larger one)
    Pros

quiet bar area, large room, lots of outside space, adventure playground for the kids
    Cons

Needs a lot to decorate, have to choose food from menu, welcome drink and wine on table, if rains outside space will be useless!

    Venue one (grey chairs)
    Pros

girgeous rooms - little decorating, great food, good drinks package, stunning views, bar all in one room

    Cons

not a hotel - would need to pay extra for this, not much outside space for kids

    Ahhh there both beautiful.

How many are u having in the day and evening and what date are getting married? Sorry if these were asked in the last post.

I'm just wondering with venue number 1 is too small but is venue number 2 too big. Outside space will always get used abit especially if there's a patio area. The only find it won't is if it rains all day and that's why I asked what date u were thinking of.

I would make a list about what u wanted from ur venue and ur special day.

For example we wanted a hotel so we could stay over and feel special. Also hotels have later bar closing times which was another thing we wanted as didn't want them to suddenly close the bar at 12 and we have to leave the premises by 12.30

we wanted somewhere with outside space as I envisaged canapés and drinks outside plus garden games.

    a light and airy room

bar preferably in the room but if outside the room not far away.

make a list like that and see which u prefer. It is a shame that ur possible favourite (number 2) kept u waiting and didn't even pop to say hello. Try not to let this put u off though if this is the one for u

Can I add though, that its great u have two places u like! I couldn't even find one until 2 weeks ago. By the way if u need to see the first venue set up for a wedding in order to get a better idea then ask if u can pop along when they are set up for a wedding, obviously before the guests arrive

    xxx
