venue question...

Nikki_D, 14 February, 2011 at 22:13 Posted on Planning 0 5

We booked our venue a couple of weeks ago, paid deposit, and booked our tog at weekend. so far heading in the right direction. But I keep having a little wobble with the venue... It's something I didnt think too much about at the time, but it keeps popping into my mind.

I just wondered if this was right?

My venue said the evening food is only on display for 2 hours due to hygiene rules etc... And I need to pick a time where it suits us best to open the food and then it closes after that 2 hours. Has anyone else had this? Am I being really dumb asking this question, as im sure I went to a wedding last year where the food was served over a longer period of time? Is it each venue's choice or just a general thing?

Thanks guys x ?

    Hi

have to say not noticed before how long food in the evening stays out, but i do think most times people will eat straight away once opened! so think 2 hours would be fine for everyone, maybe just email the venue and ask again to clarify!! xx

Its a legal thing if they have it at room temperature (or above 8C) it has to be binned after a couple of hours.

    I asked the same question.

It's even less time for hot food I believe.

Some hotels let you sign a disclaimer for the food to stay out for as long as you want, its incase anyone complains of being ill from the food then it is not their responsibility as you have requested for it to be out longer than the recommended time allowance.

If the food was to go out at say 9pm - as already stated people will eat pretty much straightaway, and think 2 hours would take you too 11pm. not many people will feel like eating at that time.
