Venues in Cheshire and Merseyside

Cilla, 25 October, 2009 at 10:27 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone,

I've been reading on here for a week but only just posting now. We're only just beginning to plan our wedding and are hoping to book somewhere for next year. I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations for a venue for a ceremony and reception in Cheshire and Merseyside. I love the look of Hillbark but its a bit pricey, as is Thornton Hall and Thornton Manor but we have booked to see Inglewood Manor and Crabwell Hall next month. Has anyone been to either of these? What did you think? Where else is worth checking out?

Thanks in advance

    Hi, congratulations on your engagement!

We're having our reception at Crabwall Manor. They're not too expensive, no room hire on the basis that you book 10 of the bedrooms. We have a few people travelling for the wedding so thats not been a problem. The staff are also really nice and flexible.

We looked at Inglewood and loved it. One or two things put me off though, firstly the room where the DJ or band would be in is seperate from the other rooms. I was worried that that may affect the atmosphere. Also, someone on here had been to a wedding there and said the food wasn't very good considering the price. It is quite expensive.

When is your wedding? Inglewood gets booked up pretty quickly.

Thanks girls! I'll look into those suggestions, Peckforton looks AMAZING but maybe out of our price range, but the golf club looks like a possibility

I'm not yet sure when it'll be (next year at some point) but as we're not too bothered when, I reckon we'll find where we want and book whenever is available. I'm looking forward to seeing Crabwell Manor now.

    Hiya,

I'm normally on BT but wondered over as my sister is getting married soon.

I got married and had the do at the Alicia Hotel in Liverpool, over looks the park (Sefton) which I thought was lovely.

In liverpool, there's the Town Hall (as opposed the registry office, although that's also v nice) and The palm house in Sefton Park which are very nice. The mannor house in Chester Zoo is also avalible for weddings I understand.

Oooh I'm just looking at the Alicia and it looks great! Would you mind telling me how much you paid as the website doesn't say the costs of the packages. A roundabout figure will do as we don't have a huge budget so I'd like to know if its worth ringing them before I actually ring them, if you see what I mean

Hi, welcome to hitched. I'm also from the Wirral and am getting married at Thornton Manor and I agree it is expensive but my mum and dad are paying half so we pushed the boat out! Brook Meadow is also lovely, I think if I couldn't have had Thornton Manor I would definitely have gone for there, it was just a little small for our evening reception numbers which is why we've gone for the marquee at Thorton Manor. I personally think it's a better option than Inglewood as everyone is in one room (with doors onto a terrace area outside which is lovely) whereas Inglewood is lots of small rooms. The room where the DJ or band would be is tiny so it's literally just a dance floor and everyone else is in a different room. But go and look everywhere, it's personal choice at the end of the day. Good luck!

Hiya I'm getting married at Thornton Hall, I was the same as you and thought it was a bit expensive but they have some really good deals on at the moment, did they tell you about the special offers?

Also have you tried The Grange Country Club over the road from Thornton Hall, I think that works out a bit cheaper. x
