Venues in Lincoln

kirsty89, 22 September, 2009 at 09:39 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to share my good news with someone and ask a quick question!

Me and H2B were planning on getting married in Register Office to try and keep costs down etc. as we really didn't have a lot of money.

Then h2b spoke to his dad yesterday, he said he would give us some money to help us out with the wedding and to help us buy few new bits for the house we've just moved into. He said he would pay it into our account this morning.

Just got back from the bank and i am absolutely gobsmacked..... £40,000!!!

With the wedding we had planned, this money would have covered it 8 times over!!!

We've now decided, we are going to have the wedding we want instead of a wedding we dont really want but were going to have because it was all we could afford!

Sorry if i've rambled on a bit, i am just sooo shocked as we were expecting probably around 5k.

So does anyone know of any venues in Lincoln?

All i've come up with so far is:

The Lincoln Hotel

The White Hart Hotel

Charlotte House Hotel.

Can anyone think of anymore?

And also, if anyone can think of a way we can thank his dad, no words would ever be able to express how grateful we are to him. But just a bit of a thank you to him for giving us the wedding we want.

Thanks in advance! x

Kirsty

Blimey that's a hell of a lot of money! We are spending about 8k and that is getting us a lot - I don't even know how you'd manage to spend 40k ? (although personally we would prob give back at least 30k of it, as it wouldn't seem right to me to take all that money off someone).

Anyway I digress. We live in Lincoln too (although are not getting married in Lincoln) other venues you could try are:

    Branston Hall Hotel

    The Lawn

    The Bentley Hotel

    Jocastas

Will see if I can think of anymore for you.

    Nikki

    xx

I don't know of anywhere in Lincoln I'm afraid as it's a bit out of my area but I have done weddings at The West Retford Hotel in Retford which is only about 15 mins from Lincoln and very close the the A1. Here is the link if that helps:-

    I'm thinking this too.....

What he has done is soooo generous, i've just spoke to him and told him we couldn't possibly take that much money from him. The wedding will not cost that much in a million years! He told me that OH's 2 sisters both got the same when they got married, so to use the money to have the best wedding day we can imagine, a fantastic honeymoon and then to help us start our life together!

I'm not keen on posting the details of where on a public forum, there have been incidents in the past of loonies cancelling things for other brides etc so I'm a bit wary. Happy to chat of board about things like that though if you want, always good to talk to someone else local!

    Wedding is 18th Spetember 2010.

Have you set a date yet? (If I don't reply for a while I'm off in the shower whilst LO is still napping ?).

    xx

Loonies..... never thought of that!!! Why would someone do that? Strange little creatures!

We had set a date for the register office of 27th August 2010 to give us time to save up but we are looking at bringing the date forward a few months, maybe a march wedding!

Will have to ring around and see what dates are available. And see how long it will take for dresses etc...... So much to do! What stage of planning are you at? x

ha ha i actually probably dont live far from you then. i live in the west parade area. i dont have any brochures for the hotels round the square but we did have a peek at the white hart and i think theres one near the lawns called the charlotte hotel or something. Also its always worth asking if you can have your pictures taken in the castle grounds. i see brides doing that all the time in the summer!

sorry about the brochures lol x

Haha!!! Small world! We're top of the hill so not really city centre but easier to say city centre than top of the hill lol

I was thinking of photo's at the castle..... one more thing to add to my list of 'Things To Think About' lol....... I have sooo many lists at the min, a list for absolutely everything, makes me feel organised although to be truthful, i'm the most disorganised person in the world!

I havent booked a thing yet and we want to get married ASAP......... Just cant decide on a venue, think i'm gonig to phone around and see if i can go in and see someone to draw up an estimate of the cost and see if we like the venue etc......

And i want to go dress shopping NOW!!! My CB came round today and decided she didn't like the BM dresses i had picked out ? Why are sisters so bloody annoying and awkward?!?!

    So hows your planning going?

I'm going to a wedding in lincoln tomorrow at Norton Disney, just outside Lincoln. Can pick up some bits for you if you like! Just email me your address, again like knickers twickers, I'm not keen on posting my actual address on a public forum, but if anyone wants to contact me off forum as a friend or a Lincs meet up then please feel free!!

ha ha i've been up the hill all weekend showing the uni freshers around.

Are you going to the wedding fayre next weekend? its all taking place in the various venues etc in the bailgate. www.lincolnweddingfayre.co.uk

You should definitely have a look at the white hart. me and mr delicious popped in today and its amazing. its all posh! lol we're thinking of re-looking at some venues in lincoln.

As for our actual planning its really not going very far at all. not got much time or money, and need to finish uni and get ourselves sorted.

    xx
