Venues in Maidstone?

Maltey, 21 February, 2012 at 08:38 Posted on Planning 0 10

We know we're getting married in Maidstone, but I'm having trouble finding reception venues there. Ones that aren't a billion pounds anyhow!

We're getting married in July, so fingers crossed it should be warm and sunny, so we're looking to have it mostly outside. I'm thinking we'll probably get a marquee or something,

I just can't decided! Help?!!

Do you live in Maidstone then? I am in Medway but work in Maidstone, if you need any advice.

Erm, bit of a strange one there, I currently live in Egham, Surrey. My family live in Sheppey and his in Sittingbourne where we're moving in a few months.

And thanks! It's really useful to have local advice!

We are having our reception in the barn at lower grange farm, sandling. Its costing us £950 for the venue - and for this we get it for Friday afternoon to set up, all day saturday for the wedding reception and then sunday morning to tidy up

Also, they have a field where you can put a marquee, a courtyard where guests can wander.

It is just an empty barn though, so you'd have to arrange everything else

    Hiya, Im a kent bride.

We had a look at knowle Country house. its in Higham/Rochester its beautiful and the grounds are amazing. or if you just want a hall youve got lordswood leisure centre in chatham. Nice place and not too far from maidstone. you have also got the inn on the lake but thats in Gravesend. The is also Swanley Banqueting Hall, another nice place. Sorry another one again not in maidstone but nice is Brandshatch palace hotel.

Sorry for all the 'alsos' & 'ands'

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

I did already look at Oakwood house but they were too sort of 'scripted' for my liking. I'm going to check out that empty barn though- that's the sort of thing I'm after!

Do you know if it has a proper toilet? My mum is crazy about proper toilets!

Lower grange farm is in the process of being renovated; so regards toilets, there is a fully functional brand new disabled toilet in 1 of the buildings, but the main toilets probably won't be ready by July
