Venues in Yorkshire

hannahd78, 10 March, 2010 at 20:05 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hello

I am struggling to find an unusual venue for our wedding where you can also have your civil ceremony. We would like something cheap (wouldn't we all!) and beautiful with outside space but our guest list is looking like 172 at the moment!

We live in Wakefield but will consider anywhere in Yorkshire, Merseyside and Hampshire (as family is well spread out)

Any ideas would be greatly received,

Thanks, Hannah

Hi, Im in Leeds. There are loads of fab venues in Yorkshire. We looked all over the place.

We booked Tankersley Manor which is on the edge of Barnsley - very easy to get to off the M1.

The hotel is very nice and they do packages which are not too expensive. You would easily fit 172 in the Tankersley Suite.

Hi Sweetheart! Heath Cottage is literally around the corner from my house!

My daughter is getting married next year and we have looked at lots of venues but they have pretty much settled and provisionally booked The Huntsman at Holmfirth - pretty much the only place around which was big enough and reasonably priced!

Blimey, that's a lot of people! I don't remember seeing anywhere that size but that's probably because we were only looking for 100. Our venue holds up to 120 I think and has some fabulous outside space - http://www.yorkvenues.org.uk/Page/Weddings/Hospitium.aspx

Aspire in Leeds is beautiful and could easily accomodate you all, but has no outside at all due to being city centre.

You have looked at a lot of the places I did. There are so many.

My friend got married at Bagden Hall and it was a beautiful venue. It was probably the best wedding I have been to. The staff were lovely.

My sister got married at Ringwood Hall in South Yorkshire. They have quite a lot of outside space if i remember correctly. Just thought i'd throw it into the mix

My daughter wanted Holdsworth House but unfortunately, it wasn't big enough Smiley sad Similar problem with Bagden Hall, Nostell Priory etc i.e., the ceremony rooms only held about 60-80 seated.

Oh i didn't realise but it makes sense now you've said it. We're getting married at my local church and then only having 80 for the wedding breakfast so it was just the right size for us which is lucky as it was so hard finding the right venue

Depends what type of thing you're after.

We've just decided on one place, literally an hour ago! but looked at The Sun Pavilion in Harrogate, The Alma Inn in Laneshawbridge, Oakwood Hall in Bingley, Red Lion in Burnsall, East Riddlesden Hall, The Tempest in Elslack, all are kind of country pubs surrounded by countryside, which we wanted, they do the ceremony as well. we loved the Sun Pavillion but being one room we decided against it as there's no where else to go to if the music's loud etc.

The venue search on here doesnt really throw up a great choice, try venues.co.uk or google civil ceremony venues in yorkshire and you'll have loads to choose from.

    Try Falcon Manor in Settle.

Beautiful building in beautiful setting with lods of space inside and out !

Very cheap food (was £25 per head) and rooms were offered free for ceremony....

Not sure of the price and a little out the way but the deep in hull would be a really unusual venue
