We have had a number of complaints from members and outside organisations about swearing on the hitched.co.uk forums. It is something that is totally unacceptable. With immediate effect, anyone swearing or posting information about how to overcome the automatic filters that stop swear words...

We have had a number of complaints from members and outside organisations about swearing on the hitched.co.uk forums. It is something that is totally unacceptable.

With immediate effect, anyone swearing or posting information about how to overcome the automatic filters that stop swear words appearing in the forum will be invited to leave and possibly blocked from hitched.co.uk altogether.

Please help kee hitched a useful and happy site. Swearing just isn;t necessary.

    Diane it basically started over a Dove release thread by a guy called Barry and his 300 employees in some company, not really sure as I missed it, a complaint has been put into hitched by some site authority people and Darren has tried to be the BIG guy and "shout" at us as if we are children not realising that hitched isn't for those who are easily offended.

    This is ridiculous! we've had excuse after excuse about the slowness of the site and been ignored whenever we've complained. you get a lot of traffic through here from regular users, and until recently i would have passed on this forum through word of mouth to friends, cousins, etc. now i wouldn't even bother, because i don't bother coming here either. i used to like this site for its easy to use layout and friendly people, the speed was also brilliant. recently its rubbish and i haven't got time to sit and wait for it. so your excuses about moving your server just dont wash this time.

    secondly the swearing as far as i'm concerned isn't a problem. as some of the girls said surely FYEO classes as adult content, similarly any time anyone asks a question about sex? or does that not count? are you allowing certain fleeting members to get to you, who are clearly going to this authority company to rock the boat because we upset them over one thing? as far as i can see you say you have a swear filter, which DOES NOT WORK. i'll admit i've used swear words on here and i think only once has it been blocked out. so sorry but thats bollocks (are you going to ban me? ?)

    to be honest you have other issues to sort out with your site before you come preaching to us. the slowness, the blatant against forum rules advertising, your report button which nothing ever comes of using it, and the few 'advertisers' who come here looking for business and then insult us all when we tell them to please not advertise. before you police your loyal and good natured users, maybe you should police the false advertisers and trolls.

    Why couldn't this have been sent in a mass email to all members or Advertisers explaining the situation?

    I will stick around to give advice & keep in touch but the site desperately needs to have a complete overhaul.

    I don't get it!

    Yes hitched is slow, hopefully it will get fixed soon so we can all get back to posting before we give up!

    As for the swearing, what swearing!? We do get the odd swear word that has been ajusted but we're all adults so why does it matter! By chaging it, it makes it all light hearted. I'm definately not offended by it. If i was i wouldn't be here. If everyone goes, i'm off too, i'm not here for the layout, i'm here for the people, it's not going to be any fun just me here.

    OK, reality check.

    Darren, thank you. For years you have provided us with a totally FREE forum service which is both useful and fun.

    To everybody who complained, realistically the techy stuff behind high volume sites is a lot more complicated than just 'fixing it'. It can get hugely expensive, perhaps if we all paid a subscription Darren would have more resources with which to resolve the issue, such as buying new hardware, hiring a consultant or paying for a dedicted managed service costing a £1k+ a month. However the Hitched forum is FREE and I think we should remind ourselves of that. Even the HIB's are paying to use the directory, not the forum and it's the directories Darren is trying to protect.

    As regards to not swearing, look, like it or not this is Darrens baby, it's not yours and it doesn't belong to the 'hitched community'. He has asked us not to swear (and i thought quite politely to be honest) and I see no reason not to comply and certainly no reason to have a hissy fit. It's no wonder hitched has a different rhyming name among many wedding suppliers! ️?️

    Good luck in getting the speed issues sorted out Darren and to everybody else, I hope it's sorted out before you leave and if you feel strongly about it, I'm sure Darren would more than happily accept cash donations towards the techy fund!
