Videographer

The Future Mrs T, 17 January, 2013 at 12:33 Posted on Planning 0 11

Just interested in opinions on whether people think this is a necessity, a nice extra or not required?

I am undecided as I am not sure how often I would watch my wedding video! lol! ? x

We're not. Probably wouldn't watch it, so not worth the money. I like photos in an album I can get out and look at, rather than something i'd have to sit in front of the tv to watch. But then I rarely watch tv...

Plus I'm not that keen on looking at photos of myself, so it would just be weird watching me on screen! And you only remember the good bits, so no being able to forget any cringeworthy moments on a video

For me, it was a nice to have. Then as time went on we couldn't afford one.

Luckily I managed to get a great deal from someone who was trying out new equipment.

I absolutely loved my wedding video and in hindsight I'd have budgeted for one from the very beginning as it was only dumb luck that meant I ended up having one.

Mine if you fancy a gander:

Thanks for posting that - now need to go find tissues lol. Tis lovely ?

Still not sure it's for me though - I'm not sure I would relate to it being us in the same way I can a photo. I wouldn't want to feel like I was watching someone else

I hope the OP watches Kharv's Video. I just did and it has reminded me of all the reasons we wanted a VOG. It captures glimses that the bride and groom cannot see from their day, people's expressions tell a million stories. Photos just don't give the same depth.

My friend watched her video back and loved it, she cried her eyes out. It wasn't even a videographer though, just her brother in law on a small handheld camera, so if you have a tech happy relative, with some interest in video editing, it's not always necessary to have a videographer if you're not sure. It is a nice extra though, I have seen some really nice professional videos. For me personally, I would feel a bit cringe because I'm not super comfortable being filmed, maybe just me though.

We have watched our video a lot more than looked at our album. I guess everyones different. I love cinematic style videos but I know some people prefer fly on the wall. My advise is look at lots of example and try to get an idea of what it is you want. Here's one of ours https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B36X8SZdzec

    Happy Planning

Originally we were not going to due to budget but OH parents asked to pay for this specifically and I am so so so pleased now.

All that money for one day, I want every moment captured to watch over and over again and show our children one day.

I love both my photos and videos for different reasons and wouldn't be without either.

    Do it.
